Hi all,
We have an upcoming trip to visit my inlaws and my dad in a week, which involves plane flight and staying at their house. It is not ideal timing as I was just diagnosed with MC a few weeks ago but I am doing better on my very limited diet so want to try to make the trip as my dad is getting well into his 70s and I don’t see him often.
My inlaws love all things gluten (beer, bread, etc) so cooking in their kitchen will be difficult. I am trying to find some travel foods and wanted to run them by you all to see what you think.
1) bone broth powder (bluebird provisions, only ingredient is dried chicken bone broth, no additives)
2) collagen powder (perfect supplements, grass-fed)
3) venison epic bars (does have a little onion/garlic but seems to be working fine for me)
Any other protein suggestions? I am allergic (anaphylaxis) to shellfish and even canned tuna and sardines sometimes don’t sit well with me. Deli meats even turkey also not so good. Eggs and beef (like grassfed chomps beef sticks) I am unsure of, waiting for enterolab tests and to feel better before deciding if ok for me.
Any other ready to eat proteins?
Thanks so much for all the great info!

Re: Travel foods that don’t require cooking
my suggestion for travel and staying with others
- make safe 'stew / casserole' with safe proteins and vegetables - freeze and take with you in cooler bag so you only have to reheat meals rather than do preparation and cooking
When I used to have to travel for work, I would check in small cooler bag with frozen precooked meals as part of my luggage, so my breakfast and lunch was precooked, I just had to reheat
- cooked eggs or avocado work well, eggs only need small amount of cooling during transit
- Eat a good meal before you leave home for the transit so you dont need much food during transit.
