Spa Visit

Post by Marcia K »

Hello everyone! Yesterday I had a lovely day at the Hershey Spa courtesy of my son & DIL as a retirement gift. I opted for a sensitive skin facial & it was heavenly. The spa is very pricey (not something that I would do on my own) and most people make a day of it. There are several relaxation rooms & in those rooms are muffins, Hershey Kisses & infused water. Being gf & df I couldn't enjoy a muffin or the Kisses and I was afraid to drink any of the infused water. One of the rooms did have plain water & I was able to drink it. While it was a wonderful experience, when they emailed the review form today I wrote that it would have been nice to have gf muffins available. I'm not sure if I would have eaten one anyway because I wouldn't have known what they were made with, but a corporation as large as Hershey should be aware that many people have food sensitivities/allergies. Some of the rooms had bowls of apples, but they weren't peeled & I only eat small organic, peeled apples, which I didn't expect them to have. I gave them an excellent review, but I believe we should bring things to their attention. Have a great weekend, everyone!

for places like that - it would be nice if there was a little card on the drinks/food tables saying something along the lines of ' if you have food intolerances please mention this to our staff and if we can accomodate this request it would be our pleasure'

no promise of being able to provide something for everyone, but an option to try and an accomodate your request (ie a knife to peel the apple etc)

Hello, Gabes & Jennifer. That is a great idea, Gabes. In thinking about it, I should have followed the staff member out of the room to inquire if they had anything gf available. I was waiting in the "silent room" where there was no talking so I wouldn't have been able to ask at the time that they were refilling the chocolate & water. Should I ever return I will speak with someone either at check in or one of the staff members. On another note, a new cafe opened in my town and someone asked online if they have any gf items & the reply was to message them ahead of time & they will have gf bread and they will be having additional gf items available soon. I live in a small town so that is real progress!
