SAFE FRUITS

Post by Jessica »

I was surprised to read that watermelon is not tolerated well by most mc patients.

I'm pretty much gutten free, dairy free, soy free now, and trying to stick with a very limited diet. I find myself craving fruit. Are there guidelines on safe fruit?

Diagnosed with MC and Endocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, I currently have a very liquid output, and my body doesn't seem to be absorbing any nutrients. GI put me on Creon (Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy), which made things worse ($936 for one month co-pay as well!)

So narrowing and narrowing my food intake, can anyone advise on what would be safe fruits for most of us. As of today, I'm I'm narrowing down to eating meat, mashed potatoes, carrots & zucchini, but sure would love to add fruit if possible.

Hi Jessica,

I was able to tolerate a greensih yellow banana (not ripe) in the early stages.

Some people can tolerate a peeled baked apple.

Thank you for your replies - I met a new friend with MC and Hashimoto's (also Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency like I have), and she said she was able to tolerate berries, but NO bananas. Each one of us are so individual, and I can see it's going to take time, a well-kept food diary, and patience to figure our what's safe and what is not.
