PPI’s

I have been in remission for three years. I have LC and CC.
I have stayed gluten-free, but I have not been as vigilant with my dairy and soy , and I am now experiencing a flare. This flare is also accompanying major, heartburn and indigestion, and I’m not sure what to take since we know that PPIs aggravate MC.
Any advice?

Hello Kim,

It should be safe to take common antacids such as Tums or Rolaids. Usually, for most of us, it's also safe to take H2 type antihistamines, such as Zantac and Pepcid, although a few of us do seem to react to H2 antihistamines. so it's best to only use them as needed, and not to make a habit of using them every day. And of course, don't use them if they seem to make your situation worse.

A low-carb diet should help to eliminate the symptoms of heartburn/indigestion. Cleaning up your diet to resolve your MC reaction should cause those symptoms to fade away. I hope this helps.
