Stevia- safe? or to be avoaided?

Post by gmae »

I seem to find no problems with using monk fruit as a s sweetener, but it is quite expensive. I am scared to try to integrate stevia again like I was using in the past (before I got treated with budesonidem I had cut out stevia completely since I thought that was the culprit). Is there legit evidence that stevia can cause or trigger stomach cramping, digestive issues, diarrhea etc, that others have noticed? Google searches only give so much information. Thank you!

I haven't tried Stevia. If I want a sweetener, I just use a little cane sugar. But I don't recall ever seeing anyone post here that they weren't able to tolerate Stevia. As far as I'm aware, it's the only artificial sweetener that doesn't cause problems for most MC patients.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
