Has anyone else had uveitis while having a flare?

Long story short I was diagnosed with Collagenous MC about three years ago. Doctors would not take me seriously for months blaming my situation on anxiety, they did not take action until i was diagnosed with uveitis in the ER. It then took three months for a scope that confirmed the diagnosis. I went on budesonide and tapered off. The MD felt it was my cymbalta that caused the MC however I have never really been the same. The best time I have had in about 15 years was on those meds.

Fast forward to now and my GI symptoms have been ramping up. My GI doc has been dismissive and just prescribing meds that only somewhat help. Sure enough I had uveitis again. I also got diagnosed with an eye disease called thygeson eye disease which has an unknown cause but possible autoimmune.

Either way my primary has not been helpful and has not ordered any labs. Meanwhile due to an insurance issue I have had to switch GI doctors and am now waiting until January to be seen.

I fear I will be given the runaround again. I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced uveitis and MC at the same time?

I know uveitis is caused from inflammation in the body, i had already been checked for ankylosing spondylitis the last time I had it.

Quite a few of us have been diagnosed with uveitis, actually. When I searched the archives using the keyword "uveitis", I came up with about four pages of posts.

I will do that and print it out. I have gotten so much push back from MDs it is maddening. The irony is that when I was reaching out to my GI about this saying my uveitis was back and I was certain it was because I was in a flare she had the audacity to say that MC usually doesn't coincide with uvetis. This was confusing to me as the doctors had told me the two were related the first time it happened!

The main reason for all the confusion about symptoms can be found in the fact that the original official medical description of MC did not include a mention of most of the side issues associated with the disease, such as abdominal pain, arthritis-like issues, bloating, acid reflux, uveitis, etc. And most gastroenterologists mistakenly believe that they're experts on MC, so they're naïve enough to believe that they understand the symptoms of the disease better than their patients. Consequently, even though most MC patients describe their additional symptoms to their gastroenterologists, most GI docs have traditionally denied that those symptoms were associated with MC, and they've refused to update their working knowledge of the disease. Now, almost half a century since the disease was originally described, some gastroenterologists are still confused about the symptoms.

HI, Cynthia. A friend at work developed uveitis several years ago. She is under a lot of stress at both home & work & I'm sure that is the cause so it would definitely make sense that you have it when you are in a flare. I get pain in my right eye when I'm inflamed. It's all related when you put the pieces together!
