Enterolab Testing and Budesonide
Hi Guys
I was diagnosed with CC in June of 2023. My GI doc prescribed Budesonide for me at that time. I took 9 mg for 8 weeks, 6 mg for 2 weeks, and 3 mg for two weeks. Within two days of starting the meds, I was having completely normal bms. I finished this course on September 19th.
It's been nearly ten weeks since I finished the medication.
So my question - can I do the Enterolab testing now? Will my Budesonide history have any effect on the results?
Thanks.

if you only used budesonide for a few months, your Enterolab results should be accurate. If you had used it for six months to a year or more, your results would probably have been affected, so that you would need longer for its residual effects to fade away. But based on your description, you should be good to go if you want to order some tests.

Morning Tex!
Thank you for the prompt reply! I have ordered them.
I've been warning my husband about going gluten free. One of our DILs is already gluten free, so we are familiar with the concept. I admit the thought is daunting, but it is what it is.
Again, I want to thank you for this board and all the good information here. I've spend several weeks reading and taking notes.

You're very welcome. We all make mistakes on our journey back to health, but we learn as we go.

So wonderful to hear you've had great results with Budesonide. I'm having a colonoscopy next week and have been suffering since April.
Hopefully, I'll be prescribed the same drug with the same results. I was diagnosed in 2019 with MCC and never had a follow up. Then a flare in 2021 that only lasted a few week and then whamo, a relapse this past April. Did the Entero testing and drastically changed my diet. Good days and bad since then. Wish you continuing good health!

Ah, but how long does it work? I've been having looser stools for a week or more now. I hope I am not going into a flare, but it is more than possible.
That's why I want to go ahead with the Enterolab testing. If I do flare, I will definitely go back on the Budesonide, but this time I will also work on our eating habits. Hubs says he's willing, so I'm going to take him up on that!
Flare or not, we need to make these changes for other reasons. I have osteoarthritis, and I read that going gluten free will help with this as well.
I finally had the funds saved up for this testing. I hope I get my lab kit soon - I am ready to get started on this phase!

Hi, Granny. You might want to look at going dairy free as well. Many of us react to the casein in dairy products. The Enterolab testing should be helpful to you. I was glad that I did it.

And eggs! I was so surprised when I received my Entero Lab results as I had been eating eggs every morning for protein. Then I stopped
and my symptoms next morning changed. It's well worth the money to get tested. Like Marcia, I was happy I did.
p.s. Marcia, I really liked your Maya Angelou quote. As a newbie on this forum, not sure how to do that yet.
