Travel and long distance hiking with MC
Newbie here: Can I ask if there are some folk who have travelled overseas on holidays with CC? I do a fair bit of hiking and was planning a few weeks in September but now with this recent diagnosis of CC I am unsure if I will be able to do it….following an anti inflammatory diet. Any advice/ ideas would be greatly appreciated before I cancel my plans which would be v sad(:
Re: Travel and long distance hiking with MC
You should have your MC in remission long before September, if you're meticulous with your diet. If you happen to still have a few issues, we have a section on traveling with MC, where you can find what others have done. Here's a link to that section:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Welcome
Travel and outdoor activities are definitely possible.
to expand/reiterate what is mentioned in the travel section
- plan the trip and plan your meals safe snacks etc
- get accommodation that allows storage of meals / preparation of safe meals
- I have travelled for work where I take a supply of safe pre-cooked meals that I just need to re-heat
- stick to low inflammation eating plan in the weeks before you travel
- increase intake of key nutrients like Vit D3 and magnesium to help manage the inflammation whilst you are travelling
- there are medication options that you can take with you as the safety net should you need it.
- listen to your body.
my body gives me some indicators that I will need to poop in about 30 minutes so I know I need to find toilet etc
When things are going well I do poop at the same time each morning
Know your limits, mentally, physically, emotionally and be prepared to have a rest afternoon or rest day when needed

Thanks so much for the practical tips. Hoping the CC will have settled by Sept when I am due to travel overseas following diet just started.

Hello! I haven't traveled overseas, but I have traveled across the country. I always carry Nick's turkey sticks for a quick source of protein. If you tolerate tuna in a pouch (without additives), Epic bison bars, packets of Justin's almond butter, Lundberg organic brown rice stackers, Lara bars (high sugar content but I do okay with them. I buy the ones with the fewest ingredients). Applegate farms turkey dogs, Jones canadian bacon, pouches of apple sauce. I am gluten & dairy free & these items are all safe. The turkey dogs & bacon wouldn't travel well without refrigeration but I have carried them on the plane with me.
