My Arthritis is Back

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Some of you may recall that I had a round with arthritis about four years ago. The worst problems were in my little fingers, and my right knee. My knee got so bad that I used a cane to walk, for a week or two.

I solved the problem by taking flax oil, and glucosamine sulphate. In a few days I was better, and in a couple of weeks, I was almost back to normal. After I went GF, I no longer had occasional backaches, or any other arthritic-like joint pains, so I assumed that gluten was the main problem. I never stopped taking the flax oil and glucosamine, however. (Up until last November, that is). When my digestive system swarmed on me, in early November, and refused to get back on track, I stopped taking all supplements, which consisted of a multi-vitamin, and the flax oil and glucosamine.

After the surgery, as I began to recover, I resumed taking the multi-vitamins, but not the flax oil and glucosamine, (I assumed that I didn't need them, as long as I was GF).

In just the past few days, I've become aware that the distal joint in the little finger of my left hand, shows some swelling, and has chronic pain. The skin at the joint hasn't yet begun to show the characteristic redness, but I'm not going to let get that far, if I can help it. I resumed taking the flax oil and glucosamine, today. Maybe there's something to these supplements, after all We'll see how long it takes to eliminate the symptoms.

Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Wayne,

Sorry to hear your getting stiff again. It will be interesting to see how quickly your joints respond. Betting they will too!

Based on suggestions from you and others here I started taking glucosamine and a super omega complex daily a year ago.

Love,

Wayne...sorry to hear you're having a flare with the arthritis....I was going to suggest the Flax seed oil and glucosomine but you said you used it before. I my self have started taking them both again. And I have let some trigger foods slip back in that I am going to have to start over and eliminate.....again. I guess some of us slip now and then......anyway I hope you can get it back under control. Love Oma

Wayne many doctors out here are recommending Glcosomine & Chondroiton for arthritis with some success. Balan,my doctor son-in-law takes it himself & put us on to it. I took it for a while with not much effect but Robert kept taking it for some time & only went off it recently. His aches & pains returned so he is going back on to it again. Maybe I did not give it a fair trial. Trouble is that I think it reacted with a drug I was on at the time.
Good luck with it.
Love Liz
