Ate rice

Post by Jean »

Hi All,

I bravely ate rice last night. No D. But I do feel achy. All in all, not bad, but I probably won't do it again very often.

The weirdest thing was that when I was eating it, I kept thinking that it wasn't as good as I remembered. I've gotten used to eating dishes without it and it diluted the flavor of the Indian dish I had made.

Think I'll just not be so worried about contact with rice, and will probably go out for sushi soon.

Love, Jean

Jean,

I'm glad you were able to vanquish that demon. Could some or all of the achiness be due to tenseness, due to anxiety and/or apprehension?

I know what you mean about it not seeming as good as you remembered. For several decades I drank from two to six cokes a day, virtually every day. They tasted great. A couple of years ago, I stopped drinking them, cold turkey, because of the corn sweetener. I tried one about a week ago, and all I could think of afterwards, was "why on earth did I ever think that they were so good?" Apparently it takes practice to acquire certain tastes.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

You survived! It's always nice to be able to rotate something back IN to the diet, isn't it? I hope you are still fine.

Polly

Hi Jean,

I can't eat rice either. I was just wondering, can you take B vitamins? I'm sorry, I can't remember, you may have mentioned this before . . .
And have you ever tried eating rice after you've cooked and then rinsed it? (to get the vitamin coating off)? Because I've tried that, and didn't have a problem with that serving of rice. I've only done it once, so it may have been an anomoly.

To our intolerances, Cheers! :toast: Marsha

Wayne,

Thank you for the note on Coke. I dream about it sometimes. I'll tell myself it's not that good!

Polly,

I ate the rice at 5:30 pm and by noon the next day I felt great. The aches were so subtle that it could have been something else. Yes, it is great to add something back in!

Marsha,

I haven't tried taking any vitamins since I found all of my intolerances. There's really nothing that is free of all of them. I haven't found a need to take any either. Occasionally, I notice a lack of calcium.

I've never tried rinsing cooked rice. I might try that next.

Jean,

Have you had a bone density since you're not taking supplements apparently? I recently had mine, and already had osteoporosis at the head of the femur. Other areas including the lumbar area of the spine are still osteopenic.

My therapy right now is SUPPOSED to include weight lifting and walking an hour EVERYday, but the way things are now, I just don't see how that is possible, but somehow, I've GOT to do it! I do lots of lifting with Mom, but it's not like an exercise where you do reps, etc., so I think it's not only not the right kind of wt lifting, but it's also fairly dangerous with the bones in this calcium-depleted state. Perhaps once the days get a little longer, my sis will be here after work before it's dark so that I can get outside and walk.

Take care of those bones, ok.
Yours, Luce
