Cousin

Hi all,

I just found out that the surgery ("something non-cancerous") that my cousin had right before Christmas resulted in the removal of the greater part of her colon, or so that's what another member of the family told me. (They don't live in the same city, and they're not medical people, so this relative didn't know what the surgery was for.) This is on my dad's side of the family, and he's the one who provided the MC gene while my mom provided the HLA-CD2 celiac gene (she had two).

I've talked to her about the M.C., but at that time, apparently she wasn't having any symptoms, like diarrhea anyway, so it makes me wonder if perhaps it's not something like diverticulitis. There is lots of GI stuff in that family including colon cancer in her dad (not related to me), and a precancer in her mother. To make matters worse, her hubby has lots of GI issues in his family, so I'm concerned about her kids and new grandbaby now with all that in their history.

Think I'll send her an e-mail although I was thinking I'd sent something around that time. Perhaps I hadn't so that she could rest and recuperate, but that period is now past, sooo..will try to remember to write when not so tired as now.

Sure would like for her to read up on M.C.! She's already done lots on autoimmune diseases since she's had rosecea. Interestingly, my sister's rosecea cleared up on the gf,dcf, ef, yf diet in addition to the other stuff.
