Leaky Gut syndrom?

Post by ronipow »

Have any of you read any books on this? It's all very similar to MC.
It goes into more detail on how to help the body heal itself. I'm going to go to half price books today and see what I can find.

I've found that most bood dealing with the Gastro-intestinal track are clear
on no gluten, soy, corn, sugars. WHat up for debate are rice and potatoes.
Specific Carbohadrate Diet says no to rice and potatoes.

Dairy in the form or yogurt is good if you can tolerate it and that goat dairy is a healing food. But, it probably doesn't taste all that great.

Probiotic seem to be a must in everything I've read along with L-glutemine,
zinc, calcium and magnesium.

I've been ready a littke about MSM. It is recommended also. I need to do more research on that one.

I was also ready that people who where not breast fed until the introduction of wheat tend to have more allergies and intolerances.

I think I'll take a poll.

Roni,

I've maintained all along that Leaky Gut Syndrome is THE mechanism that allows MC, (and celiac disease), to become symptomatic. I believe that Dr. Fasano's research findings have recently verified that to be the case, with the discovery of the protein zonulin.

If we did not have LGS, MC could not present any symptoms. Without any symptoms, MC would be a moot issue.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I know this seems too simple to be true, but I read recently that there is a component of saliva (I think it's an enzyme, or something) that has been identified as strengthening the intestinal wall and helping leaky gut. I'll try and find it if anyone's interested. Mom was right - chew your food!

Hi KathyP, The link that has "housemouse" as part of the address is the one, and scroll down to "Products I use". I'm finding more website that list products to avoid - laureth sulfate is one - causes rashes, skin sloughing that is similar to dandruff - in shampoos and almost all skin cleansers!
