Hi All!
Just got home from a trip to N.Y today to see Julia Roberts in her Broadway debut in "Three Days of Rain". Enjoyed the play thoroughly. Julia was lovely (of course!) and quite accomplished but was equally matched by her male costars. One was Paul Rudd, whom you may have seen in the recent very funny movie, "The 40 Year Old Virgin". where he played the sensitive guy, the coworker who was having trouble getting over his last girlfriend who dumped him. What a hottie he is! The other was in the movie "Failure to Launch". The play was fascinating actually. There were only the 3 actors, and in the first act they played themselves at around age 30 in 1995. In the second act each played one of their parents in 1960.
We went up and back on a bus trip, and I was dying because of the wonderful food they served (very little of which I could eat - WAH). For breakfast they served 6 kinds of juices, 4 kinds of bagels with cream cheese (including a smoked salmon and a veggie cream cheese), PB, butter, etc. They also served several kinds of cheeses, homemade banana-chocolate chip cake and biscotti. Then came apricots dipped in chocolate. Dunking Donut coffee, tea, etc. We were given those long pretzels dipped in chocolate to take to the theater. What did I eat??? Sigh. A banana and some dates and walnuts that I brought from home. And that good coffee.
Dinner started with a snack made with nuts, cheeto-thingies, etc. This was followed by thin hot potato slices served with sour cream, then raw veggies and dip. We then had goodies they preordered for each of us from the Carnegie Deli in N.Y. (pastrami, roast beef, turkey, ham, shrimp/chicken/tuna salad sandwiches on rye with cole slaw, chips, and kosher pickles) and a wonderful fresh fruit salad. Full bar, too - all liquors, wine, beer, sodas, etc. Chocolate covered graham crackers for dessert. I had wine, raw veggies, plain chicken salad, and fruit salad. At least Scott got to sample most of the food, and he LOVED IT!
I feel so fortunate to live close enough to be able to take advantage of N.Y.'s offerings. What a wonderful and energizing city it is! And lovely people too.
Love,
Polly
