Post by barbaranoela »

I replied to your garage post-----but how in the world did U go into a steroid over-dose!!!

Boy, that had to be terrifying--
So U had to be de-toxed????

What happened @ the point that U realized this happened??

Keep smiling---granny

I was on a dexpak.. starting with 6 pills a day.. a 13 day pack.

I was feeling really out of it and was on IM with my son. My daughter in law then got on and kept asking me questions (she is about to graduate as a nurse). Blood pressure was 189/98, tingly hands and feet, brain felt fuzzy, vision was not right, balance was off for walking.

The darn stuff had built up even though I was drinking a gallon of water a day! I had asked the pharmacist how to get off the steroids faster.. she had asked my symptoms and told me that it was too dangerous for her to advise me andto go to an emergency room or bug the doctors office to return my calls.

Daughter in law got the doctor's office attention and called my husband at work to get home to take me to the doctor . My son and daughter in law were too far away and she said whe would have called an ambulance if she hadn't been able to get my husband.... I was reallly close to a heart attack I guess....

I have only had to take the fast acting blood pressure medicine twice this week so hopefully no permanent damage but my system is sure out of whack.

Blood work shows everything else is ok except the infection.

I am impressed that the doctor called last night and we discussed which antibiotic to take and he went with a less powerful one to start and I see him in the office on Monday.

Always hard when you start with a new doctor for them to get the hang of how you react to stuff. I had told them I don't metabolise stuff as fast as one would expect... but of course they don't ever think you could be THAT far off the mark....

There is no way to reverse steroid od with an IV. I had to take a couple more pills to get off them.. but got off them 4 days early.

Will give the kid (new doc) awhile he seems diligent.. has a sense of humor and not at all the arrogant type...

This is my second full day with no steroids..and have not restarted entocort.. waiting for the big D to hit any time...

Gee maybe the OD will have cured my Collagenous Colitis.. (dream on)
