Granny!!!!
I cant answer your Q. but I can relate what happened to Kait---she was over-dosed with meds.,while in the hospital, and then they had to give her an OPIATE to counteract the overdosing!!!!
But with your issues I dont know what to say----other than your pressure surely indicates something is running *amuck*!!!
And what did they have to say in ER??? Is there an infection running thru U??
Did they send U home immediately or what???
Good grief, I would imagine they would keep U there for more testing!!!
Do keep us informed as to how U progress!!!! SOON, I hope!!!

All the emergency room folks did was give me the morphine and phenargen for the nausea and headache.. then sat me in the main waiting room from about 9 pm til 3 am where i did the nod off, wake up before you fall off the chair.. when your head hits the wall behind your chair. At 3 am we got into the actual treatment part and instead of letting me lay down they sat me in another chair next to a wall and put a cuff on me and said if I was ok in 20 min I could go home.. I sat there nodding off and banging me head and waking up for almost another three hours ..they said there was nothing wrong and I could go home but if it got worse I could come back....
My pressure did go down but I have had a headache ever since..slight one but headache none the less... maybe it was all that head banging against the wall... i would jerk awake every time i nodded off and then hear the bang has my head hit the wall.. would have made a funny video I am sure!
I see the reg. doc in the morning... just wondered if anyone else had had a steroid overdose... and how long it took to get better.
Had to take another blood pressure pill this afternoon when my pressure spiked over 170. Orig doc said to take it every time it goes over 160. I can tell when it is going to be high..the ringing in my ears gets worse and i feel pressure in my chest...

Hi there,
I don't know if it was from a one time dosage, or if you've been using steriods for a while . . . I took Prednisone for about a year, and was told that it stayed in a person's system for about 6 months after stopping it. When I recieved Keflex shots (also steriods) they would last about 3-4 months before I noticed the joint pain and other symptoms coming back. I hope this helps, but I have a feeling your situation is different, and you'll be better much much faster - hours or days.
Love, Marsha

Hi grannyh!
I'd say a week. After that, you might want to make sure any remaining problems aren't due to something else - especially if they are not improving.
The high white count might be due to the sinus infection. You would not have been able to fight that infection very well with prednisone floating around in your body.
I hope you are on the mend by now. What a rough time you have had.
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
I should clarify the blood pressure dosage. I take them only when blood pressure is over 160.. every 8 hours if necessary to keep it down. I have only had to take it 4 times since last monday. I went to the emergency room because I didn't keep that particular dosage down and my pressure was the highest it had been all week and I was really in bad shape.

Grannyh,
I agree with Barbara, that was an unexcusable experience in the emergency room. I wish you had insisted on a cot or something to lie down upon. If nothing else they could have given you a stretcher in the hall or something. At least then you could have slept a little.
I sure hope you are doing better real soon. I had never heard of steroid overdose. I certainly sounds horrible.
If it makes you feel any better.......which I doubt..........I've had my blood pressure hit high 190's over 110 several times. Not in a long time but used to happen. I didn't have the headaches though. I'd just get dizzy real easy and would feel like I was shaking on the inside. Everybody reacts differently, but the sinus infection might have added to the headache. I remember, though, that my Dad used to have headaches with his high BP.

Went back to the doctor... Ishould be better now... Well if I metabolized stuff like the statistics show... however, the ringing in my ears is a common side effect and I may be stuck with it forever. I am a tad less dizzy and the blood pressure is still all over the place but at least under 160...
They are setting up an appt for me for physical therapy for my back..which is what I had asked for exactly two weeks ago when I started into this mess.
He figures, like I do, that the steroids and then the morphine I got at the hospital has held off the D. It is like waiting for a volcano to erupt.. the colitis WILL return... LOL

Grannyh,
I'm so sorry to hear about all you have been through and hope your feeling better soon.
Been kind of out of the loop lately and don't really know what brought this all on but I was wondering specifically, about your experience with Entocort. Last I recall, you were taking it with success. I get the impression now that may no longer be the case. Care to update? I'm interested in hearing how your experience using it went.
Take Care

Joanna
