TV/The Amazing Race in my front yard

Post by harvest_table »

Just have to share this.

I don't watch much TV but a friend called this evening and said turn on the TV to this program, so I did. If any of you follow this program the footage shot on Mirror Lake in Alaska with the group ice fishing, and then flying out off the lake took place on the lake I live on.

I noticed the brightly colored houses and planes pop up one day this winter and never bothered to ask our neighboors what it was all about. If I had, you would have seen me on TV tonight!!

Interesting, and small world we live in.

Love,
Joanna

RATZ! Missed it!

I would loved to have seen it - you must live in one of the most picturesque area of the country. Let us know if you find out when the rerun might be on.

Love,

Polly

The show was on CBS and I did some research online about it. My friend has been following it with great interest. With all the stupid reality shows on these days this one looks pretty interesting. I still can't fathom how they ended up here- it's pretty cool. Here's a blurb on what they had to do on Mirror Lake. Funny, they call it a recreational lake when in fact no motorized vehicles are allowed at all. Everyone has floatplanes and canoes.

It really is a beautiful place to live, that's for sure. We are fortunate. I'll look about to see if it will be re-run at some point.

This is a pretty good show... I watched the first couple of seasons, but I think it generally tends to be on too late for my bedtime! They went through Alaska in the first season too...did some dog sledding if I remember right.

My other reality show fixes are Project Runway and Top Chef on Bravo. I like these two because they actually require the contestants to have real skills. Food Network did one recently for the Next Food Network Star too which was very similar to Top Chef.
