Nightmares
Hi everyone,
Well I officially had my third food nighrmare!! In the first two, I'm walking by my kitchen table and there is a plate of cookies sitting on it. Before I think, I reach out and pop one in my mouth. Just as I'm swallowing, I realize that I can't eat that anymore ...but it's to late.
The nightmare last night was in a movie theater. Somehow, I 've eaten most of a brownie before i remember. These jolt me awake with my heart pounding.
guess this diet thing is getting to me. Ha Ha!
Hope you guys are sleeping better than I am,
Cristi

Hi Cristi,
I too have dreams about forgetfully eating regular food with gluten, every once in a while, but they usually don't cause me to wake up.
Maybe you need to keep some GF cookies and/or brownies on hand to munch on once in a while, so that you can stop having those nightmares. Surely someone can find a recipe to work with your intolerances.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Cristi,
I definitely remember dreaming things like this, perhaps because I'd gone to bed hungry after just learning that something I thought didn't have any of my then known allergens in it DID in fact contain one of them. Usually I learned this over in an internet support group like this one too late at night to run to the store, so I just growled my way to bed in hopes of sleeping it off til the next day.
I will tell you one REAL incidence in which an old habit caught me off guard. I was sitting in a nearby restaurant, having ordered a cup of coffee, and before I realized what I was doing, I had emptied the little container of cream into the coffee, and drunk a good bit of it. (Can't have casein.) At that time, I was also lactose intolerant due to the fact that I'd not had time to heal yet, so I began paying for it in a couple of hours, and the later diarrhea came in 24 hours due to the casein reaction.
Even fairy recently, I "ruined" a cup of coffee by emptying one of those little containers into it, but at least I caught it before drinking any of it. Had to request another fresh cup, but at least the person serving it realized that she shouldn't have served it as she knows my diet so well by now.
The fact that the cream container with coffee thing is so much on "autopilot" is kind of weird since I always drank my coffee black at home or at work, and it was just one of those little treats I'd do for myself every now and then at certain restaurants for a little treat. Go figure....
At any rate, didn't want you to feel like the lone ranger. Also, it's not uncommon for this to be anxiety producing, especially at first, but it will get better as your body adjusts, and as you realize that you are capable of doing this, and are not going to starve.
Hang in there. This group has seen many people through the tough times, so this is definitely the place to be for support.
Yours, Luce
