Memorial Day

Post by barbaranoela »

Of course its a day to bar-b-Q and all that stuff but I know , the first thought is remembering and honoring all the people that have died fighting to protect our country and having the freedom that we so enjoy~~~

I remember when the WAR ended---we lived in an apartment building, lower east side of New York, and along with my mom and a few friends---we all were throwing torn up paper out the windows--

And everybody was yelling *the war is over* and   tears of joy and tears of sadness for those that we knew wouldnt be home---

I went to Fall River on vacation----playing by that big BOULDER landmark - and I looked cross the street---seeing this limping GI --duffle bag--in uniform coming up the street--it was my uncle Walt--we used to call him CHUM-- and I ran and hugged him and then ran to my babci's house---running up to the second floor --yelling to Aunt Jean---Its Chum--its Chum---he is home~~~~~
Well she just dropped whatever and ran into his arms---

Of course, being so Xcited I sorta spoiled the SURPRISE for Aunt Jean but Uncle Chum forgave me---
U see she didnt know when he would be coming home~~~~

So all, enjoy the day---cus we are able to do so for those who are honored today and every day~~~~~

luve--
Barbara ---who will be  'ing watching all the services being held~~~

Wow Barbara!

You're quite a writer. That brought tears to my eyes. I felt like I was there.

Thanks.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks for the story Barb - I too had tears while reading. You missed your calling - should have been a writer!

My nephew just left from a 10 day leave to return to Iraq. My prayers are with him and all the other soldiers involved in this war.

My thanks to those who have served before and given us the freedom we seem to take for granted!

Happy Memorial Day to all!

Love,
Mars

 I agree, Barbara, and I had tears also.

Thank you for putting the emphasis where it belongs.
