Good Afternoon!

Post by Maureen »

Where's Barb?
Anyway, Good Afternoon....

I woke up this morning with a migraine. :bricks: I took an Amerge, 2 hours later I took 1 Tylenol and a 1/2 a Vicodin, then a cup of coffee (caffeine is supposed to help) then 2 hours later a sudafed (my head was congested - from the migraine)............
finally, 6 hours later I am headache free!

Does anyone live with chronic pain? I'm trying not to let it interfere with my life............but I'm running out of options! :mallet:

I'm going for Botox injections (for migraines) this afternoon at 3:30. I get them every 3 months. I'm not sure if it is helping much but If I stop getting the shots my insurance co. will no longer cover me.

Thanks for listening.....
Please write back with any comments or suggestions...
Love,
Mo

Hey Mo,

There was a two-page spread article in the paper this weekend about a technique a number of people swear by. I brought the article in to work and two of my coworkers have used it and can't say enough about how wonderful it is. In the article it even purports to help with Crohn's.

p.s.
Sorry we won't see you in NY this time around

YES MO, to your question---my son lives with pain 24---7, due to a screwed surgery maaaaaaaany years back---and *sad* to say it HAS interfered with his life~~~~~
He goes to pain management for regulating his dosage~~~~

Appears, as we said before, my family has rotten luck with neuro-surgeons~~

He is now hoping *ONE* will take the chance and operate on him---just to relieve pain!!!!

Feel better MO----

Today I was to see my Dr.Lois--and then Lou and I (alias Mutt and Jeff) went to PT!!!

We are GLUED together--- :coolpenguin:

Hi Maureen,

I'm so sorry you have this burden!

I've heard good things about the Bowen Technique in general.

"Full Catastrophe Living, Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain, and Illness" is an excellent book on chronic pain management by Jon Kabat Zinn based on the highly successful program he developed called--The Program of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

My husband followed the program in the book and got a lot out of it.

Even though it's called "stress" it relates to pain.

Warmly, Celia

Thanks for the tip, Peg and Celia.

And Hi there, Barb!

I am looking into seeing a mind & body Dr. next....I wonder if he knows of the Bowen technique.

I have had a cranial massage before which works on not only the head area but the neck, palms, soles of the feet and lower spine to relieve migraines... It didn't do much for me....maybe I needed to go regularly but it cost $65/session (insurance did not cover)

lot's of interesting alternatives out there - worth a try!

Mo

Hi MO,

I don't have any personal experience with migraines to share. Didn't Sally try some kind of alternative program when she had the back pain and the steroid withdrawal pains? I seem to remember that she found something that helped, but I can't remember what it was. Maybe someone else will remember.

I saw Peg's note that you are not coming to NYC. RATZ! I was hoping to meet you. Are you SURE you can't come?

Love,

Polly

P.S. Have you been to a headache specialist? (I imagine you have). We have one in my area that people SWEAR by.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
