Hi Maureen,
I have had migraines for a long time. I know mine are related to stress, wine and other food triggers.
I came upon this book that might help you. \\"Heal Your Headache\\" Author is David Buchholz. I don't agree with everything he says, but a lot of it sure is true for me!!
Have you tried Ronda's Migraine webpage?
http://www.migrainepage.com
I hope this helps.

Jaco, a parrot in Salzburg, could not only speak but seemed to understand grammar. Whenever his person left, Jaco would say "God be with you." But when several people were departing, Jaco would change it to "God be with all of you."

I have the book \"Heal Your Headache\" I've found it very helpful. You're right though, I don't agree with all of it. He says that tylenol doesn't cause rebound, but most reasearch shows it does.
I'll check out Ronda's webpage.
Here's some other good ones:
http://www.migraines.org/
http://www.headache.com.au/hachehtm/headfrm.html
http://www.remedyfind.com/index.asp
Remedy Find is a good one for any condition....it will list every single medicine out there to treat that specific condition.....it also gives patient ratings and comments.
How often do you get migraines and what do you take for them?
Love,
Mo

Hi Maureen,
I take imitrex injections and Fiorinal/COD
My migs have changed over the years, I used to get them every weekend. Usually only on one side.
Now I get a variety. I get them on both sides, sometimes I'll have one for three days on one side and then get one on the other side for three days. They involve my neck and ears. I have had them on the top of my head and in the middle of my forehead. Also at the base of my head in the back.
I know I get rebounds from all meds. I used to get rebounds from Cope, I took for muscle tension H.A. I think it was the caffeine in it.
My Migs have no pattern anymore. I know I have a trigger level, and if I reach it I get a Mig.
I was just on vacation for my Birthday one week and my sons the next week. We drank a lot of wine (wine tasting) and just general partying. Not enough sleep, lots of people etc. I had a migraine every morning that I drank wine. I had to take two shots of imitrex 4 hours apart and a fiorinal. This happened at least 4 days out of the two weeks.
I really don't know what my other triggers are, but wine does it to me if I drink it more than one or two days. Plus we had a lot of people around all the time, which can be very stressful to me, being an introvert.
I had to come home to rest!!! LOL
That is the first time in a long time I had to take two shots for a mig.
It was worth it though, it was my 60th and my sons 40th birthday!! Would have been much better without the migs though.
That doesn't happen every day!!! Milestone BD's.
What do you take? I have tried Amerge and others like it in pill form.
They don't do anything for mine.
I hope you have something that gives you relief!!!!! If the imitrex ever quits working for me I will be giving everything up!!!! When I thought I had sinus HA and the docs wouldn't give me anything for them. I thought I would die and then I wished I would. I don't know how anyone can live through them without something to give them relief.
Mine usually always last threedays. Longer if I am rebounding.
Love Kathyp Thanks for the sites.

Hi KathyP,
I'm on my 2nd or 3rd day now.....all this med. makes my memory fuzzy...
Usually Amerge works for me....but if I take it more than 3 days I start to rebound.
I tried Vicodin with tylenol and an Ultram last night it took away 80% of the headache but my eyes and head still hurt a little.... I woke up at 5 this morning with a bad headache and took an amerge to totally get rid of it.
I am supervising 12 3rd graders for Field Day at school today and I need to be pain free....I'm drinking a cup of coffee right now with 2 tylenol to be 100% pain free (I hope)
My headaches are relentless it seems....Sometimes I'll get lucky and go 2 or 3 days without any head pain.
I've never tried Imitrex, I like the sound of shots...my stomach is not doing to well with all the meds. I take Protonix for acid reflux and I get heartburn very easily.
How long does the Imitrex last? I've read it only lasts about 12 hours....my amerge lasts about 24....sometimes longer if I am lucky.
I usually have right-sided headaches, behind my eye, sometimes the top of my head is real sensitive to touch and the base of my skull and top of my neck hurt too.
I've been getting Botox injections which have gotten rid of my neck and base of the skull pain but I really don't think it is helping my migraines.....
I am seeing a specialist on the 28th....I hope she can shed some light on this.....
I don't want to have a bad summer....:(
Love,
Mo

My sister gives herself Imitrex Injections. She says they work really well as long as she catches it early. Maybe it's something you'd like to try.
I'm sorry you suffer so much from the damn things. I know they are misirable.

Maureen,
The Imitrex injections sometimes take the HA completely away, and sometimes I have to take another shot after four hours. Sometimes it lasts for a day and then I have to take another shot the next day.
What I like about them is that I get relief in a couple minutes, instead of having to wait for an hour or so.
My HA usually last three days, but in the last year or so they don't have any pattern. It's like I can get away with out one for awhile, then I hit a threshold, and I get them for several days.
If you haven't tried the shots you should. I used to lay around and bang my head on the wall without any help. I thought I had sinus HA, and the docs wouldn't give me anything. That was horrible!!! I went to a HA clinic and was diagnosed with migraines. Then I got the Imitrex.
I hope you feel better!!!!
