Q & A Thread #5
"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
OK, I'll take a stab at three of them:
Q My symptoms don't seem as bad as others, are there different levels of severity?
A Yes. For example, in the case of diarrhea, some may have 1-2 soft stools per day, while others may have up to 25 explosive, watery stools.
Q What is the difference between MC and IBS or IBD?
A IBD means "Inflammatory Bowel Disease" and includes ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and MC. With IBDs, there are findings of actual disease on medical tests. IBS stands for "Irritable Bowel Syndrome", which is NOT an IBD and does NOT have any positive medical findings.
Q I have been diagnosed with MC, do I need a second opinion?
A No, not if the diagnosis was made by looking at biopsy specimens of your colon under the microscope.

What are the symptoms of MC?
A My symtoms were scarey to me. I lost 36 pounds in less than a month because of D and loss of appetite. I had D at least 10 times a day.
Q My symptoms don't seem as bad as others, are there different levels of severity?
A AT the onset before Diagnosis, They seemed as bad. Yes there are different levels of severity.
Q Can MC lead to other diseases?
A I have had what my family doctor called IBS for years before being diagnosed with MC, and have had bad skin and toe and finger nails. I have premature vetricular contractions...Maybe
Q What is the difference beteween MC and IBS or IBD?

Q I have been diagnosed with MC, do I need a second opinion?
A I feel that my colonoscopy and biopsy were my second opinion.
