Profiles
This might not be a good idea to everyone, but I'll bring it up anyway.
Would anyone like to share a short introduction or description of themselves, so we can re-introduce ourselves to each other, and especially to new members?
Love, Marsha

There is a forum for medical histories that has not been used very much. We could try to resurrect that. Personally, I would like to see profiles having to do with how old we are, are we married, what do we do in our spare time, do we work.....that sort of thing. Is that what you mean? I think it's a good idea, Marsha.
Lots of love,

If you will click on the Profile link, you'll see that most of that information can be entered in your user profile. There are slots for Occupation, Interests, and even Known Food Intolerances, Also, an appropriate avatar, or other pix, is/are certainly worth at least a thousand words, (as far as age, general appearance, etc, are concerned).
I can make the option of entering that information mandatory, but I feel that would be more than a little heavy-handed, and it's unnecessary to boot. Some folks just don't care to reveal certain personal information. For example, I wouldn't want anyone to know that I was past 39. (As Jack Benny used to say. Anyone remember him?) LOL.
Love,
Tex
P S To view member information, just click on the Memberlist link at the top of the page, and click on the username in which you are interested. You have to be registered, and logged in to see that information, of course, whereas anything you put in a post, is visable to the whole world. I'm not sure that posting personal information for the whole world to see is a good idea.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I don't think that new folks out there just DX with MC care about if we are married, have children and all that. We have so may hits on posts and alot of what they are reading is stuff like -Days of our Lives on the general message board but they have no idea what our history with the MC journey is. The personal things come later.
Marsha, I'm glad you brought this up.

I like the idea
Good idea, Marsha:
I'm not sure what's on my profile, but will check.
I agree, Joanna, that when people first come here their first concern is to get information and support for learning and coping with their disease, but later on we get curious about the people we're spilling out guts to and appreciate.
I'm not sure how long I've been associated with this group through Peggy, but started with Sally's first site and moved with some of you here. In that time, many of us have become fast friends and know quite about each other and some of us have met, which proved to be a wonderful experience for me as I'm sure it was for those of you who experienced the same thing.
At any rate, it would be up to the individuals to decide how involved they want to be and how much personal information they want to provide.
The main thing is for us to be here for each other - it's a very special place to come to talk, whine, and laugh too. I, personally, feel priviledged to know all of you and appreciate the opportunity to come here to share my feelings, frustrations, fears and sometimes just to talk about something that happened during the day.
