fiber
Last night I watched a PBS show featuring Brenda Watson featuring her new book H.O.P.E. She talks all about the importance of Omega 3's, acidophilous, digestive enzymes, and Fiber. It all made sense and I wonder if anyone takes fiber (and has MC, I mean!) Her suggestion was oat bran, acacia or flax.

I get tons of fiber in my diet, but that's possible because my gut has had a several years to heal now.
Oats are probably good at reducing cholesterol levels due to having lots of SOLUBLE fiber content. That's why it's so often recommended to the general public. Probably not a good idea with M.C. due to the contamination issues with gluten, however.
There are other sources of food that will provide lots of good soluble fiber in the MC'rs diet, if you care to do a search on the net, there are some good lists readily available, for both soluble and insoluble sources.
I should think that soluble fiber foods MIGHT be better tolerated as the MC'r begins to heal compared to insoluble.
I'd be interested in knowing what she had to say about digestive enzymes? Dr. Fine has mentioned the possibility of digestive enzymes being one of several possibilities with someone I know's problem recently.
Thanks, I'll certainly be looking for this program. Do you get Zonya, the registered dietician's program where you are? She's very good, even if one can't eat alot of the recipes because of all the other things we can learn in that 30 minutes -- quick ideas as well, including shopping (label reading), and fitness that can be worked right into busy schedules.
I just love watching the cooking shows on PBS!
Yours, Luce
