Maggiano's

Post by Alice »

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking alot this summer. Just wanted to recommend a good gf chain if you're looking for a place to eat out: Maggiano's. They have gf pasta, and are very knowledgable and cooperative. They gave me a complimentary gf dessert - brownies. It was great! Bruce had a gf spinach salad that was delicious.

The portions are huge, so you get two meals in one!

Alice,

I see by their map that they have some resturants in Texas.

I'll have to keep my eye's open. It's been a looooooong time since I've had any pasta. Thanks for posting that.

Love,
Tex

Great, Alice!

See there's at least one location in Houston, but couldn't find a specific location. Will have to look into that.

Did you happen to notice whether or not dairy is sort of "built into things?" I don't suppose eggs or yeast would be of concern.

I'll bet the pasta is wonderful!

Pleeeease tell me I can eat it!
Salad sounds good as well!

Yours, Luce

Lucy,

I don't know for sure about dairy - I would guess that it's not in the pasta or salad. The gf brownies may have butter - I'll have to look at my recipe and see if it uses butter, but I would think so.

The pasta had the consistency of corn pasta - it was the little twisty ones.
Hope you can try it. I told the waiter it was my first time and acted very excited - which I was! Maybe that's why I got the free dessert.

Hi Alice,

Thanks for the tip and there is one very close to me. Viewed their menus and did not see any GF on them. Do they have a specific GF menu or you just ask when you get there?

Glad to be back home and will relay details of the trip after I get settled back into work.

Love, Maggie

Maggie!

I've been thinking about you and your wonderful trip lately! I'm so glad
it worked out for you to go. I also thought of you and Frank when I purchased a new pair of binoculars for backyard bird-watching. They are a hundred times better than those tiny ones we had.

A few days ago I saw a brown thrasher for the first time at the feeder.
I think he left after a couple days, as I haven't seen him again.

How were the babies? Alot of fun, I'll bet.

At Maggiano's you just have to ask. No gf menu.
But they were very knowledgable, at this one anyway.

Love,
Alice

Peggy,

Thanks! You know I've actually ridden with my family through the little village of stores over in the high rent district on the other side of the Galleria, and, at that time, saw the restaurant. Now, i remember my sister and I musing about whether or not we might be able to get something to eat there.

It's funny, but every time we see a nice restaurant, we always wonder..could we?? Next time there's special occasion coming up, we'll have to check out the chef for not only gf, but also dairy, egg, yeast, and soy free. Won't he just love THAT! Ha!

Thanks.
Yours, Luce
