Hello my friends- update

Post by thedell19 »

Hello All-

I have not had the internet for quite some time because of our move. Our townhosue is GREAT and worth not having the internet for about 3 weeks.

I am still on a strict GFCF diet and I have added various foods back with mixed results. The worst result was from chocolate- I wont go into details but my stomach was not a happy camper...

I dont want to use the internt on too much of works time but I wanted to say HI.

Also has anyone heard abotu Glutenease?

http://www.enzymedica.com/glutenease.php

Very respectable enzyme company... I use their Digest Gold with great success. Any opinions? Oh yeah I am not planning on going off the diet but as supplemantal use to the diet.
Dr Fine test shows positive for gluten and casien but negative for soy, eggs, and yeast
Maybe its UC maybe its MC? Who knows at this point, but at least I know my intollerances now... so heres to the road to healing!

Glad to hear you're doing pretty well. I can tolerate chocolate, but only if I use powdered cocoa and make something with it myself.

As to the Glutenease, I'd be very skeptical. Considering they don't even mention autoimmune response I doubt it works. But hey, if you want to be a guinea pig, go ahead and let us know how it works, LOL.

Love, Jean

Hey

No bragging here --- but I'm one of the lucky ones that can tolerate chocolate without problems, too.

Please do keep us informed as to how the supplements go.

Glad the move was worth it!

Hugs

Andrew

Chocolate does not work for me either. As some of us have found here, many, many chocolate products contain soy lecithin as an emulsifier. I will attest to the fact that soy or anything derived from it is the worst thing that I can put into my system. So , my friend, you are not alone.

The Gluten Ease looks interesting. I have tried several different enzymes over the years with varying results. Their Enzyme Gold formula worked the best. At a point in economic recovery , the check was in the mail Haha, I opted out buying it and found that I was just as well without it. So maybe it did its work.

The worst thing is buying expensive supplements that make things worse. Then what do you do with them??? I tried allot of them at the beginning and ended up giving them away or throwing them out. Oh well.

Of the many things I tried it may or may not have been what got me back on track or just helped me absorb more when I needed it most . Hope it continues to work. Or even maybe you won’t need it anymore sometime.

Hi Andrew,

Great to see you back here!
Since your soy test was negative, I'd be willing to bet it's the chocolate itself.

Since I react to soy, I just use pure cocoa, but hardly ever use it. The other day, however, I did throw some into a smoothie. Probably should've also thrown in some vanilla extract (gf). I've heard that's a good way to do the flavors, but NOT if you react to chocolate, which apparently a number of people do.

Personally, I think the smoothies are plenty good enough without adding chocolate, maybe better.

So glad you are enjoying your townhouse so much. Don't be a stranger.

Yours, Luce

I wonder if the many of you having trouble with chocolate without a soy intolerance (or do you all have that soy connection) are reacting to the caffine in chocolate. We all know caffine increases gut motility or secretion or whatever (I don't know the mechanism...just know it makes you poop). I suppose the powered cocoa would have this too though so maybe I'm not on to anything (probably the case...you all think these things through more carefully than me).

Glad to hear you are doing well Andrew. Keep up the good progress and enjoy the new digs.

Katy
