Another "sticky" for the newbie room

Post by Polly »

Hi Good Buddies!

OK, I have developed another draft for your review.....this would also go into the newbie room. It gives a little history and context for our new Board. Tell me what you think.

About Us

The 40 or so founding members of this website met originally on a wonderful website developed by Sally Read, which provided information and support for those with microscopic colitis (MC) and their families. When Sally decided to close down and leave her website in May, 2005, one of the members, Wayne (tex), invited any members who wished to stay in touch with each other to email him. Because of the immediate and large response to his invitation, Wayne quickly and graciously obtained state-of-the-art forum software and began to set up a new MC Board.

This Board was kept private initially until the founding members could pull together the most up-to-date and accurate information on MC and related diseases as well as document their own many years of experience with MC. All of the information offered on this website has been agreed to and developed by a group (consensus) process. The intent of the founding group was to develop THE best resource anywhere for MC information and support and to continue with Sally's tradition of providing it in a warm, caring, family-type setting.

If you are feeling brave, please jump right in on the "Main Message Board" to introduce yourself. We operate like a family, so don't be intimidated by all of the jabbering and laughing there. However, if you'd feel more comfortable, you may introduce yourself right here in this "Welcome to Newbies Forum" - see the thread titled "Newbie Introductions". Either way, it won't be long before you are greeted warmly by fellow MC sufferers. We all learn from each other here, so you will find lots of interest in your experiences. We can't wait to meet you!

It's me again!

After re-reading the above, I would suggest just using the first 2 paragraphs for "About Us". The 3rd paragraph might go better at the end of the "Welcome to Newcomers" sticky in the Newbie Forum. Whaddya think?

Love,

Polly

I like it, Polly - and I agree about leaving the last paragraph out or putting it somewhere else. Can you make another soft ending to the first two paragraphs?

Jaco, a parrot in Salzburg, could not only speak but seemed to understand grammar. Whenever his person left, Jaco would say "God be with you." But when several people were departing, Jaco would change it to "God be with all of you."

Polly,

I think it is just wonderful and so nice of you to take this on considering how busy you are. The wording is perfect and very welcoming and also a compliment to our Sally.
