Hi,
Thank you for the hello's and welcomes.
And yes Polly I am walking. I'm training for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in Florida. It's in January. I just started my training and it's going slow. I walk a mile and it takes me 20 minutes. That's not good at all. To think I use to racewalk a mile in 13 minutes. You have to do 16 minute miles for this race. And if you don't keep the pace they take you off the course. I'm sure I can do it and I have some time to train.
In my racewalking days the group I belonged to a lot of them did this marathon. They said it's a lot of fun. The characters come out on the course and it's pretty laid back. And you get Mickey Mouse's head as a medal. Well, I found out 1/2 marathoners get Donal Duck. I always wanted to do it but lacked the funds and then got MC and pretty much stopped walking. So a good friend of mine offered to pay for everything race, hotel, plane ticket, tickets to the park functions, etc. She knows I need to get my butt in gear and get back out there walking. So I can't let her down. Any support from anyone here would be a big help.
So watch out road I'm BACK!!!!
Love,
Joyce

Joyce,
I was once a runner/jogger for quite a few years before Colitis struck me down in my tracks..
I wish you luck. I'm just starting out walking again.. 1/2 mile at a time now, and that takes me 30 minutes.. depressing isn't it?? So you're doing well at a 20 minute mile!!!! :)
Anyway, I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK with that !!!! A marathon sounds amazing and I'd always DREAMED of it but now I fear it will never happen.
I'll coach you if you need it! There are a few others on here that exercise.. mike and polly to name two...
