Suggestion for new room

Post by TendrTummy »

I think we should have a "Confessions" room, specifically for when we "cheat" or accidentally overdo something related to diet or exercise, knowing full well it's going to cause us harm. I think taking the blame away from ourselves, accepting what we've done, and moving on will help take away from the stress it causes us when we do something and later regret it..

Just a thought.. lemme know what you all think..

Hmmmmmmmmmm--interesting thought. If enough members want one, I'll certainly set up a room for that. My personal opinion, though, is that you/we will get a lot more support if we post it on the MMB, where somone may have some helpful comments, since we've all been there/done that. No one's going to bite your head off because of a little slip. :croc: Wow! I can't believe I actually found a legitimate use for that smilie. Finaly! LOL.

Really, a confession room should be anonymous, shouldn't it, and there's no practial way to do that. I'm afraid what might happen is that someone might have a bad streak, (due to stress, or other external pressures), and make several confessions in a row, and when he/she notices that he/she is the only one making entries, inappropriately become depressed, and stop trying.

Or, maybe I'm all wet, and it really would be a benefit. Other opinions?

LOL no, I'm not trying to tell you guys anything.. I guess because I'm keeping a journal on here, I feel extra STRICT about my diet because it's like people are watching LOL. With the goat/sheep cheese, I posted about it and then was pretty shocked when people had had reactions, and I felt this sense of guilt!! lol Anyway, that just made me think, wouldn't it be *fun* to go get all of our *confessions* as far as food mistakes off our chests. See, my problem is, I constantly feel like if I screw up on my diet, then it's my fault when I feel cruddy. Unfortunately I feel cruddy no matter what..

Anyway, it was just a thought. I guess I hadn't considered that people might not get a response and might feel depressed about that.. I was thinking more along the lines of just *confess*, get it off your chest, and then you don't have to blame yourself for it anymore, and be done with it, not a form of seeking support from others..

Good Morning, Christine

No reason to feel guilty or anything like that over the goat/sheep cheese or anything else to do with your diet, really. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or make you feel upset when I pointed out that thing about the goat cheese - Christine, if you had been in the old GF Kitchen more you would have seen that we all have done this to each other a hundred times. That's how most of us learn - maybe a little faster to learn the diet when someone helps point to some of the trigger foods instead of having to figure it all out by oneself. I only meant to be helpful in pointing it out. Don't feel bad about that at all - you didn't cheat or any such thing. It all just has to be learned.

You say you feel cruddy all the time anyway - I don't think that's going to last much longer. The diet is actually and factually going to make you feel much much better down the road - weed out the trigger containing foods one by one and soon enough you will get some longer periods of feeling good. Even just ONE trigger in your food eaten regularly can make you feel miserable every day - guess what happens when you eliminate that ONE trigger?!

Keep up your good work and confess all you want - we love you, Christine and only want to see you feeling better. (((((Christine)))))

Love,
Karen

Awe, Karen,

I didn't mean YOU made me feel bad.. I guess I was just mad at myself more than anything... like "GEEZ how could I go and do something like THAT to screw up??" lol.. don't worry about hurting my feelings, I'm not easily offended.. at least I don't think I am.. lol

Seriously, that wasn't what I meant at all.. I just meant that I hate screwing up, and feel guilty about it all the time, so maybe if we had a room to vent about feeling guilty about things, we could simply "let them go" and not dwell over them.. I often DWELL.. think about things for MONTHS that I could have done differently that would have changed things..

Eat, sleep, poop (normally) all day AND no dwelling on things I could have done differently!!!!! Sounds pretty nice to me..

Yes, Shirley, yes I do.. but I've been due to learn that for a very LONG time and haven't yet.. I've also not been able to be aggressive or forceful when it comes to things about my child with my stupid X.. I pity him and can't bring myself to be strict with him.. sigh..

Oh, you DO have to toughen up a little bit with that X of yours. Also, you need to work on getting rid of that "guilt complex machine" you've got running inside your mind so much!!

Many

I'll let up on you now - promise.

Christine,

I forgot to mention that I did set up a "Confessions Room". I hope nobody confesses to any major crimes there. LOL.

Oh Tex,

You are too funny - now, why would you get such a thought? Us, a bunch of sweet innocent people, mostly women, confessing to major crimes?! Don't worry, Tex - we are just into petti crime; Speaking for myself of course. LOL!!

Thanks for the confession room - I am looking forward to using it.

Love,
Karen
