Hi Mrs. Columbo,

The latest version upgrade, which I installed on Christmas afternoon, included a "session check" addition, to various forms used by the forum, (including the posting form). This is apparently designed to prevent hackers who are php-savy, from using a computer applet to access those forms without going through the log-in process. IOW, it checks to make sure that the poster is actually authorized to be posting.

After I installed the code, and tested the board, I received that message the first time that I posted. (Sigh). Fortunately, (so far, at least), each time it has happened, whenever I've hit the submit button again, the post has gone through.

I can remove it from the code, but if I do that, and we get hacked somewhere down the line, and I turn to the php support group for help, they probably won't feel much pity toward us - they'll say that I shouldn't have messed with their code.

I'll keep an eye on their support forum, (I check it regularly, anyway), because if they receive "complaints" from a lot of admins, that their members are receiving that message way too often, they will probably work out a "fix". Obviously, something isn't working exactly the way it was intended. Hopefully, they'll be able to develop a work-around fairly soon.

Sorry for the problem. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's noticed the problem.

Luve,
Tex

P S It did it again, when I tried to submit this post. LOL.

Yep, I noticed it too and just thought it was me. Glad to know that they make mistakes too.

Thanks, Maggie

Hi Maggie,

Actually, the code writers for the board software are not to blame. It turns out that the problem lies with the MODs, (modifications), that I've added to the board, to to make it easier and more fun to use. Whenever an upgrade for the board software is installed, there's always a chance that certain MODs will be affected, and either won't work correctly, or won't work at all with the new code for the basic board software.

Whenever that happens, we have to either find a workaround for the problem, or uninstall the mod. For this one, it was just a matter of adding a single line of code to a single file, for the quick reply form. As I noted in my other topic to Barbara, I still need to find a fix for the PM files, and they're a lot more complicated, so it may take a little while before I have the time to work on it.

Love,
Tex
