Hi Barbara, I received your card several days before Christmas. Did you get mine?

You're right - there was no check in mine, but I loved the "peaceful" message you added to the card.

Luve,
Galahad

P S I think that most letters and cards that don't get delivered, or get delivered late, get hung up at the final destination post office. That's not always the case, but I think it happens in a lot of cases with disappearing mail. I've had letters sent back to me, because the postmaster at the destination post office didn't like some little part of the address, and they return it several weeks later.

I just got a business letter back a couple of days ago, that I mailed on the 18th of December, and it only had to go about 70 miles. If it takes 2 weeks to return a letter only 70 miles, and from a one-horse town, there's no telling how long it might take for one to be returned from a big city, when it had to travel a couple thousand miles. And, when I got it back, it was soaking wet, through and through.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some of these "little dictators", (postmasters who go strictly by the book), might throw away some letters during busy times of the year, in order to meet their schedules, especially if they don't like something about the cards or letters, or they just happen to be in a worse than normal mood, that day. It's happened before, in several towns around here.

It takes much longer to sort and deliver mail, than it does to take in mail, and send it on to the main post office for processing and sorting.

Not to mention all the days off the post office has had this holiday season. I was suprised when I went to mail a box yesterday to find they had the day off for President Ford's funeral. Did they close for Reagan's? I personally think that is going a bit far on the federal government holidays.

Hi Barbara,

I received mine and Frank and I loved it. Also, thank you for the thank you re: me selecting gifts. I have always tried my best to listen during the year to friends and key in on what they say they love. Makes my buying more spread out but very individual.

Love, Maggie

Hi Bubbs,

I got your card - thanks! I hope your New Year is a good one and that you and Louie enjoy the rest of your Az. stay. The warm weather makes me envious...lucky you!

I'm not around much lately, I know, because I've started a new job. I've become a volunteer CASA, which is a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children. I took 40 hours of training to prepare. I advocate in and out of court for foster children in the most dire circumstances. I'm very excited to be doing this work because there are so many kids that have no one who cares.

I'll continue to "lurk" here as much as possible, and would love to hear from you.

Love,
Alice

Hi Barb. Mine arrived yesterday, as did one from Shirley. Maybe it took a while for the postie to swim across the big, big pond. Or the airplane detoured via Hawaii for a holiday.

Morning Alice,

I really admire the challenge you have taken on and do hope that when I retire - whenever that may be - that I have the energy to do some volunteer work that will really benefit others.

Love, Maggie
