Hi Back Wayne!!! And To Everyone!!!

Post by Dee »

Long time, huh????? Lots going on in my life, but the MC is being controlled by diet and only 1 Entocort... So, I've been just like the energizer bunny and I keep going and going thru the happiy & the sad events in my life.
Got a job!!! Part-time at a bakery, of all places. You that know me, know that I love to cook and bake. This job is a fun one!! Never thought that I'd ever say that about a job! Love being able to interact with the public again and not have to worry about excusing myself to take a run to the restroom. I found out last week that I have some osteopenia going on in my left femur and I've been on a nasal spray for bone density and take calcium since I don't do dairy, so now the ole exercise ball is out and I'm
using it to do some weight bearing.. Fun! Fun!
I've missed everyone and hope to get back on here regularly again. I have alot of catching up to do..
Thanks to the gals that have sent me cards!
Love
Dee~~~~~~~

Dee,

That's great news! I couldn't keep from smiling from ear to ear when I read your post. I'll bet you are happy with that job. It probably had your name all over it. Glad to see that your treatment program is working so well, too, and that your energy is back. To my way of thinking, that's one of the best things about remission - regaining the energy we need, to do everything we want to do.

Bummer about the osteopenia, but is sounds like you're on top of it, so I'll bet you'll be able to nip that in the bud before it gets to be a problem. There are some other tricks to improve calcium absorption too. Are you aware that the countries where dairy consumption is the highest, have the worst problems with osteoporosis?

Looking forward to seeing you here regularly.

Love,
Wayne

DEE!!!!!

Good to hear from you. I have missed you. You sound very busy and happy - yay! Great news that the ole MC is under control.

I also have some osteopenia. Seems funny that you have it only on one side??? Are you taking vitamin D? And avoiding salt? (salt pulls calcium out of the bones). How about weight-bearing exercise?

I am also smiling thinking about our old conversations - about eyes, Florida, your recipes for nut milks, etc. I hope you can hang around for a while.

Love,

Polly

HI Dee,

Glad to see you back and am thrilled that you got a job that is such a great fit and makes you happy. Miss your recipes too. I always said - before MC - that my idea of Heaven is that it was a Big Bakery in the Sky. Love any kind of bread or pastry but that has gone by the board.

Love, Maggie

Yep!! I work at a place that I can't eat a dang thing!!!! Now if that isn't restraint, then I don't know what is!! A BIG test of willpower..
Okay Wayne, what's the scoop on the helping to absorb the calcium thing??????? I'm a fine candidate for osteo because I'm a very small framed person. Small bones... Sigh!
Hey Po lly!! What about the puff poopies and the baboon butt?????? I can laugh about it now!!
Well, off to work.
Have A Great Day!

Love

Dee,

Re calcium absorption, there is an excellent discussion of this that can be found in the forum titled "Links to Good Info Sites". Check out the website supplied by moremuscle (Karen), which is in the post the 7th from the bottom. I think you'll find it very helpful.

Puff poopies - HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Dee,

The discussions that Polly mentioned are the ones that I had in mind. Here are links to the two excellent sites that Karen posted:

http://www.paleodiet.com/losspts.txt

http://www.beyondveg.com/cordain-l/prot ... s-1a.shtml

Here's another, where the author talks about the effectiveness of drugs promoted for treatment of osteoporosis, and the article also discusses ways to improve bone density without resorting to drugs.
