Hi Everyone:
We had a snow day today. About 6 inches in our area, but in an area where snow is unusual it causes no end of complications. John grew up in Quebec and is scoffing at all the stupid drivers here. I feel quite safe going out with him, but as a native British Columbian, don't feel confident to go too far myself, so I let him do the driving or just stay home.
We've had 14 nasty storms since November and our famous Stanley Park in Vancouver has had over 3000 trees blown down. Anyway, it's been a winter to remember.
My cold is slowly abating and I even ventured out tonight (John driving of course) to get my banking done and we even went out for coffee. It was nice to get out after being housebound, but I made sure to bundle up so I wouldn't get a chill.
I haven't heard from Lisa (my daughter) about how Sara is doing today, but I think that's good news because if there were any further complications today she would have phoned. I know they're just busy working on getting her eating normally and she still has to have an EKG on Friday and I doubt that she will get out of the hospital before then. I hope this has been an eye opener for the whole family and that diet counselling will help. I know it's a trend with teenagers (mostly girls) to try to be ultra thin and obsessed with their appearance. It's scary - Peggy and I were just talking about it tonight and my idea about bringing it up at the school. Peggy works for a school organization and explained to me that the school system is so stretched now that it would be hard for them to try to counsel these kids and that it should begin at home and I realize she's right. People get so caught up in their careers and the kids with school, friends, part time jobs and everyone is so busy that a normal family life has gone out the window. The kids are left too much to make their own decisions and aren't mature enough to make right decisions sometimes. We live in such a fast paced world that we need to step back and take time to decide what's important in life.
Well, just rambling thoughts coming out now, so I'm going to quit for now.
I actually enjoyed the pretty big flakes of snow coming down today. It gave the poor leafless trees a dressing up and made everything pretty.
Take care everyone,
Love - Momster

Hi Momster...yup...what a wacky year this has been weather-wise. I too had a snow day....a lot of it melted during the day, then it started snowing again around 7PM and it is still dumping in Tacoma. My school is canceled again tomorrow! And...the high temp tomorrow will be below freezing! My neighbor and I put on our skis and tried the road in front of our houses, but too much unpacked snow and not steep enough to get going very fast. Tomorrow, I may put on my cross country skis. I did not expect more snow tonight...this is amazing! Stay warm and glad you're feeling better...JJ
