Hi...I'm sorry to whine, but I need to vent. I went up skiing today and it was a clear sunny day....no new snow, so a little icy, but OK. I had a great time! Anyway, after lunch I went back out and while I was waiting in the lift line, someone skied into me. I fell on the ice on my tail bone...one ski came off, but the other didn't...ouch! That knee was wrenched and my tail bone is killing me. I made 2 more runs and came home. My bottom really hurts when I bend over or go up and down stairs. and my knee collapsed as I walked down the steps from my bedroom. My friend the school nurse told me to wrap my knee in an ace bandage to give it support. Guess I need to buy a knee brace. If I still hurt in a few days, I'll go to the doc. I have injured my tail bone before and did not go to the doc...I just hope I didn't injure something higher up in my back. I am so excited about skiing this year, and even have a season pass. I have been so busy up there with the ski school, that today was the first day I could really ski. Thanks for letting me whine. Oh... and...I joined the YMCA on Friday and had an appoinment with a trainer tomorrow...called and said I had to cancel....whaaaaaaa! Thanks for letting me whine....JJ

Jill,

Today sure wasn't your lucky day. Sorry to hear about what happened.

You may have to take it easy for a while, to give your body a chance to recover. I fell on my tail bone several years ago, and it refused to heal. I guess I kept re-injuring it. Finally, after about 2 and a half years of almost constant pain, it healed about a year ago, while I was mostly immobile, because I was recovering from my gut surgery. (I killed two birds with one stone, there). LOL.

I hope your injuries heal a heck of a lot faster.

Take care of yourself,
Tex

Oh poop, JJ!

I would be upset, too. I have seen some serious accidents occur when skiiers crash into each other. Beginning skiiers are a dangerous lot, aren't they? So is ice. We stopped skiing in the east and instead went west to ski because of ice.

You may have pain for quite a while from the bruised tailbone, as Tex experienced. But I hope not. How are you feeling now?

Love,

Polly

Hi...I woke up very stiff and in pain as can be expected....This morning my left hand is sore and swollen as is my left knee...my right knee is still weak. I am starting to think that the injury is above my tailbone....it does not hurt when I sit..but hurts when I walk, bend over, and use stairs. Bending over and going up stairs are the worst. If I don't feel better in a few days, I will go to doc for X-Rays. Hope it gets better after I get up and moving. I may go to the Y later and soak in the jacuzzi. Thanks for the sympathy....something is very haywire....JJ

Sorry about your accident. And you were just STANDING there! Hope you don't have any structural damage and will recover from the bumps and bruises quickly. Definitely a bummer.

Hi Jill. That is just too bad about your accident. It probably would not do any harm to get your back xrayed. Can't muck around with back injuries, as I well know. Hope you heal soon so you can get back out on those slopes.

Love

Liz

Morning Jill,

Glad you are feeling a bit better and if you do that swimming, take it easy and just do slow easy strokes. No backstroke

Love, Maggie
