Rough Weekend

Post by kate_ce1995 »

Well, it's been coming for a while, but the girls' mom and step-dad split up last night. The girls were with us, but were going back to their mom's today. Their mom just came up and told them. Kayla found out last night because their Mom called to tell Geoff and the answering machine had picked up so the conversation was playing on the machine. Erin slept through that and just found out this morning and immediately starting crying. It's enough to bring tears to my eyes because there isn't a damn thing I can do right now (and I never had a heck of a lot of respect for him). Kayla seems okay with it...she hasn't ever really gotten along super well with robert (stepdad). And Kayla was old enough to remember her mom and dad living together to some extend. Erin was only 2.5 when Geoff and her mom split up so robert has been a part of her life really as long as she can remember. Fortunately its almost the end of the school year and both kids are doing well, so if they struggle from now until the end it won't really affect their year long performance. And hopefully the excitment of the wedding (mine and Geoff's) will help keep a smile on their face. Hopefully they don't shy away from me because I too am a stepparent.

Katy

Hi Katy..that is a shame for the kids...but...they are so lucky to have you in their lives...someone who adds stability and love in their lives. They will be OK, but it will take time...take care, JJ
