Neti Pot

Post by Polly »

WHAAAT, you ask???? LOL!

Just started using one. It's been used for eons by eastern medicine/disciplines. Basically, it's a little ceramic pot that you fill with saline solution and use to clean out your nasal passages/sinuses. My internist recommended it last year - procrastinator that I am, I have now bought one.

It makes good sense, I think. It washes out pollutants, pollen, and germs after you have been outside, so that your respiratory system does not have to mount a big immune response (the LAST thing we MCers need). It feels great afterwards, too. I am guessing that this practice will lessen allergy attacks for those with that problem.

You can buy them at Whole Foods or other nat'l food stores. To mix your own saline solution, use 1/4 tsp of plain salt in 8 oz. of warm water.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Love,

Polly

Neat. I think I heard an opera singer talk on the radio about using that. It helps against getting colds, which opera singers for sure don't want.

I sent a link about using one to my sister who has a lot of sinus problems.
Maybe I'll get one too. I'm stuffy a lot even with taking antihistimines.

My allergist years ago discouraged me from using homemade saline. He said you can introduce a lot of bad stuff that way. He recommended the commercially packaged saline. I like Simply Saline. It is preservative free. I use it every day. It really helps.
