In to week six of the strike!
It's hard to believe, but we've been locked out for six weeks now. I went to a temp agency Friday morning and they've been keeping me busy ever since. It's helping to replenish some of my bank accounts and lessen the stress level of this whole issue.
I hear they have been at the bargaining table since Sunday, so maybe something will happen soon? Sure hope we're not out for the summer!!!
<----maybe that's what my picket sign should read LOL.
Hugs to all

Hey Peggy-
Maybe you already mentioned this in an earlier post but what is your occupation?
Being out of work just plain old sucks... by lay off, strike, or firing it makes no difference to me you are still oout of work and the stress is still the same. Here if Flagstaff AZ I have had trouble finding and keeping jobs because it is such a small town. Since April 2006 I have been paid off 2 times each time about about 2 months. I remember those times were so stressful because about 4 months after we bought our townhouse I was laid off! That really got to me because I couldnt stop thinking about losing the house! Luckily we both have wonderful families who helped us out with grocery stores gift cards and such.
I am glad that you have found some temp work to take your mind off of things and is helping with replenishing of the bank accounts. I wish I could tell you when thing will get better tomorrow; but I know if you keep your head up and stay positive good things will happen. Easier said than done. Good luck and we are all pulling for you!

I work (or worked) as an administrative assistant for a teacher's federation. My main areas of work are assisting teachers province-wide with workers' compensation and grievance claim files.
No word on the status of talks today - but I did just find out I'll be paid seven hours for a stat holiday that occured over the strike/lockout. Wonders never cease!
Barbie - I'm not walking the pavement while temping! I think I've had just about enuff of that!
Hugs

Peg,
This is getting ridiculous! Hopefully, the end is in sight. How do you like temping? I would think it might be fun in terms of getting to try out a lot of jobs. Short-term, of course. I'm sure it gets old quickly.
Love,
Polly
