Well, in case any of you have been following it, Springfield Vermont, my hometown and current residence has won the honor of having the Simpson's Movie premier later this month.
We have, in the past, had a history of inventing dolls with movable arms/legs, Stellafane (the amature astronomers club), A visit by Charles Lindberg after his trans-Atlantic flight (he was good friends with Governor Hartness who lived in springfield), being on Hitlers top 10 hit list because of our machine tool industry, and probably many other things too numerous to mention. Now we can add Homer (not sure I find that appealing, but it's kind of cool).

Our Oregon Springfield was in the running too! I think the only thing we had going for us is that Matt Groenig (Simpson's artist) is from our state!
I heard that some of the 7-11 stores were transforming into the Simpson's as well, but I haven't seen one yet.
