Paging CA Mary.....

Post by Polly »

Hi Mary,

I recall a discussion you and I had many moons ago about GF foods we would like to see developed. Do you remember? We both wished we could find some GF ravioli or tortellini. (Of course, in my case it would have to be stuffed with something like chicken/veggies and herbs or dairy-free pesto, since dairy makes me sick). Have you ever seen it anywhere in your travels? It seems like every time I go to the health food store there are OODLES of new GF products.

If anyone else finds this product (or a "cheese" product without any dairy or soy) I will offer a reward. (Maybe tex can find us a medal or ribbon smiley?) LOL! Don't all run to the store at once, now!!!

Love,

Polly

Hi Polly!

I have yet to find the elusive GF filled pasta (ravioli, tortellini etc....) but I did order large shells and made stuffed shells from scratch (it was yummy and super high-calorie, I'm sure! I find just plain spaghetti and sometimes fettucine or spirals at the store - BORING! I also made a pasta salad for the end-of-season baseball party with the small round macaroni pasta and had several people ask for the recipe  Haven't found the meatballs, either!

I am finding GF labels on more everyday foods, which is great!! Nestle (I think) hot cocoa mix and Lay's Stax come to mind...

I found some new favorites thru Miss Roben - a graham cracker from Josef's bakery which has great texture for a GF baked product! and Glutino breakfast bars which are the closest thing to a Nutrigrain bar I've found yet - but pricey (isn't everything!) I'm also psyched about the GF teriyaki sauce for BBQ season, as well as a reduced sodium version of wheat-free tamari (soy) sauce....

I need to go poke around Whole Foods - haven't been there in awhile to check out what's new - I always browse the bakery dept to see if they've come up with anything awesome

I agree - it gets easier all the time with new products coming out!

Love,

Mary

I am so jealous that some of you have a good place to buy GF foods. We don't have anything like that around here. I have searched on the internet and nothing even close!

Most of the health food stores in this area have vitamins, supliments, etc. but no food! I found one place with food but the boxes and containers were sooooo boring and bland (lacking eye-catching color) that I wasn't even interested. I found a few rice based cereals and a few baking items along with some rice flour and pancake mix that is GF.

Need to go tomorrow and get some more probiotic. Ran out yesterday.

Ok, I'm done complaining!
