The FDA Continues To Fail To Do It's Job

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Apparently, the FDA continues to let us down, with it's pathetic record of food inspections. Here's a report on how they have failed to follow up on the E coli outbreak found in spinach, last year:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070912/ap_ ... _safety_17

To me, this seems unforgivable, since they are in charge of our food safety.

In my business, I clean and bag "Deer Corn", which is basically just whole grain corn, sold to feed wildlife. The State of Texas inspects my facility every year, (without fail), and tests my product for safety, numerous times each year at my cleaning and bagging plant, and at various stores that sell it.

I also sell food grade corn. Guess how many times the Texas Health Department has made an inspection - yep, only one time, in the last 18 years that I've been doing it. Obviously, animals rate a lot higher than people, in this country. Do you suppose they're bribing politicians and/or bureaucrats under the table? LOL.

I also am required by law to register my facility with the FDA, (so that they can assess the risks, and keep me informed of any terrorist threat to the food and/or feed industry. (As if terrorists are dead set on interfering with our wildlife feeding practices in this country - that would really bring us to our knees, if we couldn't feed the deer, and other wild game. Hahahahaha).

All that this type of registration accomplishes, is to get every food and feed producer listed in the FDA's huge database, so that if any terrorist organizations ever wanted to create some mischief, they can easily obtain a list with up-to-date addresses, and other details. You can be confident that if any terrorist threat to my business, or any other business, ever actually came about, the FDA would inform me of the threat, roughly two or three weeks after everybody read about it in the local paper, and were already bored with seeing all the coverage on TV.

Okay, I admit it - I don't have a whole lot of faith in the FDA's likelihood of protecting our food supply, based on their overall record, in case you missed that. LOL.
