Hi ya,
Missed you all, sorry to be absent for so long.
Settled into our new home in MN-listening to the combines in the fields and cows before bed. It's harvest time.
All is good here but always thinking about how you all are doing.
Mc is interesting, yes?
Love,
Joanna

Hi Joanna,
We've missed you too, and it's good to see you posting again.
I like the way you summed up the sounds of the country, this time of the year - it's a relaxing assortment of sounds that sometimes seems to be almost light years away from the cacophony of the city, doesn't it.
Healthwise, I'm doin' OK, but I hope to soon be doing better. After 21 months of eating dairy products again, I'm back on the wagon, avoiding them, to see if that will eliminate my arthritis symptoms, which seem to be on the increase these days. If several months of abstinence doesn't nip the problem in the bud, I guess I'll try eating dairy products again, and get a casein test at Enterolab.
I'm glad to hear that you've settled into your new home, and into that good ol' country life.
Love,
Tex
P S Yep, it seems that there's always something new to learn about MC.

REALLY glad to hear from you, Joanna!! I agree with Tex, the sounds of fall harvest sound wonderful. Don't hear anything like that here and actually, I don't in PA either because our farming neighbors aren't close enough, but there are plenty of other relaxing things to listen to there.
I'm so glad you are settled in and things are OK. Hope you aren't missing Alaska too much.
Thanks for posting...........
Love, Shirley

Hi Tex and Shirley,
Been without internet for the last 20 hours and they must have the problem fixed now- we have been losing it a couple times a week the last month.
It's funny, we have wireless high speed internet- the transmitter (or receiver?) we get our signal from is set up on the top of a silo less than a mile from our place but whenever the farm has some activity going on it somehow trips the box or something. Our service provider said the recent outage was because they were drying corn or something and of coarse no one seems to be in a hurry to fix the problem. I'm just thankful we can get wireless, alot of folks cannot and use only dial up.
Tex, I sure hope you can resolve your arthritic problems by removing dairy from your diet- it will be interesting to see how it helps. As you know, I haven't had Dr. Fines tests done either but through trial and error see that I feel best by keeping dairy products out of my diet.
My first six months of GF I was consuming dairy and at about the 8 week marker of of weaning off Entocort I noticed some muscle and joint pain creeping back up- that's when I started eliminating dairy and seriously looking at processed foods, sugars, ect. To treat myself, everyonce in awhile I'll have a shot of cream in my tea though.
Shirley, we really are enjoying it here- it's beautiful. Besides a few friends there are 2 things I miss about Alaska- wild game/fish and the mountains. I'm able to read the Anchorage Daily News online to keep up with whats going on there- thats fun. Alot of political corruption these days though....shame on those good ol boys.
Oh, I forgot to mention the other sounds that are fun to hear now are the duck, goose & pheasant hunters in the mornings and evenings. Deer hunting opens in a couple weeks and for the first time in 20 some years Alan won't have to fly from Alaska to MN for that. Our cabins only 3 hours from here and we are all going to be able to hunt this year- including Alanna! Should be fun.
Love,
Joanna

Joanna,
That ISP relay station must be getting its power from the farm, and whenever a big load kicks in, the voltage drop causes the ISP relay station circuit breaker to kick out. For a small investment in equipment, they could install a circuit that would automatically attempt to re-engage the circuit a few seconds after the the surge has passed. The power companies do that out here on these rural power lines, (when the power goes out, it will attempt to re-engage the circuit breakers up to three times, before giving up), but I don't know what a switching system of that sort costs - probably less than sending out a service technician to reset it every week or so.
You know, I've never been able to catch dairy products causing me to have D, (at least not since my gut has healed), and I've cut them out for a week or two at a time, on a couple of occasions, but I could never really detect any difference. That's why this trial is going to be long enough to remove all doubt, (I hope). I really believe that all arthritic symptoms are caused by something in our diet - we just have to ferret it out and avoid it.
Wow - a whole family of hunter-gatherers!
