Update on Me and My Sinuses

Post by Polly »

Hi All,

Well, I'm now in the 10th month of chronic sinusitis, after many months of antibiotics and sinus surgery in Oct. The good news is that the maxillary sinus, which is the largest sinus and was the most infected, has healed nicely. However, two smaller sinuses (ethmoid and frontal) still are "socked in", according to the latest CT scan. (As you know, I suspect that my heightened inflammatory response has more to do with this than actual infection.)

The bad news is that I will need another surgery. Am scheduled for Jan. 31st. These other sinuses will need to be cleaned out/debrided so that they can finally heal. I am nervous, of course, because these 2 sinuses are right next to the eye and brain. However, the doc (in whom I have the utmost faith) will be using an imaging machine while he operates so that he will know exactly where he is. I'll have to wear some kind of head gear - but won't know it because I'll be under general anesthesia again.

The saga continues.................As Roasann Rosanna-Danna said...."it's always something!" (from the original Sat. Night Live for you youngsters)

Love,

Polly

Polly,

More surgery is a real bummer, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. I certainly hope this provides the coup de grâce that finally resolves the problem. You've been fighting it long enough, and it's high time that infection met it's Waterloo.

Thanks for the update.

Love,
Tex

Polly----needless to say I am so sorry that another surgery is on the agenda for U-----this is really a bummer-----but as Galahad said---U gotta do what ya gotta do--- :music: come rain or come shine :music:

This should solve the problem---right? :bigbighug:

I should tell my friend cross the street to take a hike to MD-see your Dr.---and maybe she would get some relief---she suffers --to the hilt---with sinus issues and has had several operations---with NO GREAT results--

I see how she suffers so I can :music: Imagine :music: what U have been thru--

Take care and all good thoughts will be with U--

Hi Polly,

I'm sorry to hear about the impending surgery. Not fun. I hope it is "the cure" finally. You have had a long time with this infection.

I may be having foot surgery for a neuroma soon. Not as serious as yours, but still surgery.

Best wishes on the 31st!

Love,
Alice :bigbighug:

Polly Wally (doodle all day),

Another surgery is NOT how you intended this year to start, I'm sure! I wish you good vibes and hope this is the last treatment you will need for the sinuses.

I know what it is like to have something "chronic" that just won't respond to normal treatment - hence my eyes. I've gotten used to the slow response in treatment and healing time since the colitis has reared it's ugly head. I sure wish someone would create a magic pill to cure all of our ails.

Best of luck to you, I'll be thinking of you!

Sorry to hear you need more surgery. At least it is soon so you don't have so long to worry about/dread it. Hope it will do the trick and you can finally heal. :xfingers: Whatever happened with the netipot?

Hi Polly - just sent you a message. You will be in my thoughts & prayers. My dad had sinus surgery years ago & it seemed to help him. I avoided it by moving away from sage brush country - though I miss the moose - I was highly allergic to sage. Take care.

Morning Polly,

So sorry to hear there is more surgery coming up for you. It has been a really long and painful obstacle course for you during this ordeal and I do help that this will finally solve the problems.

You are right on the Roseann Roseanadana thing.

Love, Maggie
