You know-- when it rains it pours

Post by Kellyerin222 »

Wow my goodness everyone. Ok-- is it true that things come in 3?? Please tell me no, lol. Might be half whining, half venting at the moment. I am sure if someone took my blood pressure it would be absurdly high right now, but I am trying to calm myself down. LOL-- funny I just went and got the audio cd today "Full Catastrophe Living" by Jon Kabat--Zinn (per your recommendations) and think I will be using them tonight.

It first starts out with this morning I noticed my son's ADHD medication looked low and I didn't really pay too much attention because I was in a rush to do the school routines and such. Later I went back and counted them and there are 7 pills missing. My brother (age 21) lives with us for a while and he got up and I asked him "Ben did you take Kyle's medication" and he was quiet and then said "Yes". I was very upset with him and was telling him he knows Kyle cannot function without his ADHD medication-- he has severe ADHD and if he does not take it then he cannot pay attention at all in school or sit still. He has done this before by taking my Vicodin and at first I didn't catch it, but then freaked out on him when I did. Well I was just really upset by that. I actually lock all our medications up in a safe because this happened before and I kept Kyle's medication in my nightstand because it is easy for me to get up and grab it and give it to him first thing in the morning-- so that means he was going through my stuff. Basically told him I am so disappointed and hurt and angry and he almost cried (tough) and told him that this is a serious problem and when I am not as emotional as I was we were going to sit down and talk about this some more.
****I calmed myself down***

Ran out to pick up my husband’s check and then ran to borders to get a Vitamin book and the meditation book. Then was going to meet my husband for work and while driving there I was slowing down for a light and heard this HUGE boom from my car. My first thought was--- Oh no, I just popped a tire. I hit a man hole 3 weeks ago and bent a rim and popped a tire and just got that fixed. So I pull off on the side of the road, put my warnings on and call my husband. I got out and looked at all my tires and was like-- OK what was that? All my tires were good. My husband tells me to look under the car and see if I see fluid of any kind-- I did and saw nothing. So I get back into the car and still talking to him-- started it up and immediately I felt a wobble and told him "something is not right Steven". I was like 2 blocks from his work so he said "Get here and let me check it out". So I head out and on my way and went to break--- my foot went straight to the floor and the car barely stopped. You want to talk about freak me out and kick in the adrenalin. I quickly swung into a bank parking lot and the back tire was smoking so bad and fluid was just spewing out.

Husband grabs a company van and comes over-- the rear wheel brake cylinder broke. I called a friend of mine who is a manager at an auto mechanic place and ask him if it is ok to get it towed there and would they be able to check it out. He said absolutely no problem. So I waited an hour with my husband for the tow truck to come. Called my brother to come so he could pick me up-- then I could take him to work so I could keep the car and then pick up Steven from work and my daughter from school and he came.
My friend, Lonnie who is the manager so gratefully put that as the first thing and got it in to look at as soon as it got there. He calls me back two hours later and says "Kel I don't have good news for you". I was like "Lonnie-- ok I am ready". He did a total check over of the car and diagnostic-- said "Kel, I took off $600 for you (bonus of being close friends) and total repair of the car is going to be $1950". I think I gasped for air and went numb for a second. He rattled off things left and right that I had no clue and so Steven called him back and they were talking. We don't have $1950 right now, so asked him what can we do just to get by right now until we can get more money within the next month. In the end we need to pay $700, but Lonnie is rushing it so I can pick it up at 2:00pm tomorrow. We just purchased this car a year ago and I cannot believe there are so many things wrong with it-- it's not that old. Rear/front brake bads--discs, trans axel (and the list goes on). Called the place where we bought it-- but unfortunately it has been a year and it was basically "sorry for your luck" (argh).

Sooo--- deep breathe-- when it rains it pours lol. Just hoping this car can hold out at least another month for me so I can get some more money. I am going to be having a serious talk with my brother tonight because now my son is going to come up short on his medication, so he is going to have a few rough days at school next week (and homework is going to be a bear)...

Ok, sorry for my vent--- just needed to get some things out. (Gosh this has been a week huh, lol). Thanks for listening to me rant!

Hi Kelly!
That sounds like such a rough day... I feel awful for you just reading it. I hope the CD's help.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring 3 great happenings your way to counteract your day today.

Oh, boy - what a day you've had. Car bills are the worst. After you've repaired the car, you still have the same vehicle - nothing to show for all that $$$. I sure hope your son can make it through school next week.

Thank you, doing OK now. In the end I guess it could have been worse-- could of hit someone when my brakes went out, lol. Going to cause a crunch in the bunch, but on the other hand I can look at it that I am lucky to have a vehicle, lol.

Took an hour long hot bath--- still made myself jump on the treadmill. Just going to cuddle with my husband tonight and watch a movie, take a deep breath and put this behind me  -- well still have to have the talk with my brother and p!ssed at him right now-- but he will be told tonight if it happens again he will be immediately out.

Oma: gosh that sounds good about right now, lol-- only when I drink it upsets my stomach, so settled for the hot bath  But all is well now and onto better things!

Morning Kelly,

What a horror day. I sure hope things are getting a bit better and so very sorry to hear about the car. It is something you can just never be prepared for.

Love, Maggie

Thanks --- yep I got the car back on Saturday (thankfully). I have all new brakes, rotors, etc. The thing that got me is the brakes did not even screech (which is usually a warning sign) and I did not get any of that.
I have the diagnostic sheets and husband is going to purchase the parts and start working on the rest of it, so we can get the car in A+ shape, but when I drive it now all seems good.

Talked with my brother and he has agreed to make an appointment with psychiatrist or psychologist because I explained to him that this is worrying me and if it happens again he is going to need to move out asap because I do not wish to feel untrust in my own home surrounding my personal belongings.

Last week was a really rough week, but I am doing everything in my power to make this week the better! Just glad to put that week behind me, lol.
