Gloria - I've Added A Bookmark Feature to the Board

Post by tex »

Hi Gloria,

Yesterday you asked about a way to bookmark topics, so that you could easily keep track of topics that you might want to refer to again in the future. I located a modification that seems to do what you wanted, so I added it to the code.

Obviously, Gloria isn't the only one who can use this. I think that we will all find it to be a handy way to keep track of topics that we want to study in more detail at a later time, or topics that we don't want to lose track of, or even topics that we may want to refer to years later.

When you bookmark a topic, your bookmark goes to a special table in the database that is linked with your user account for this board, and the bookmarks will always be there, unless you delete them. These bookmarks have nothing to do with your browser, and will not be listed in your browser's bookmarks. You will have to be logged in to your account for this board, in order to be able to "see" the bookmarks, of course, and non-members cannot bookmark topics, (since they don't have a user account.

Okay, here's how to use the bookmarks: When you start reading a topic, look above the Author's avatar, (in the light blue, (or gray), bar, at the left end, and above the word "Author"). You should see the words "Bookmark topic". Simply click on those words, and the topic will be added to your bookmarks. Anytime that you want to use, or edit your bookmarks, look up above the "Potty People" logo, (on any page), and click on the word "Bookmarks".

Gloria, see If this does what you wanted. If anyone has any questions, or if you have any problems with it, please let me know.

Wow, Tex - that's fantastic! I love how easy it is to save and retrieve the bookmarks. Much better than using my browser. Thank you!

You're very welcome. I appreciate your bringing up the idea. I think it's a good addition to the "tools" that we have available for using the board.
