Probiotics use updates?

Post by ErinD »

I know a while ago we had a good thread going on various probiotics people were trying (ultimate flora, VSL3, etc). I was wondering if we could get an update on how everyone is doing today on them, if they feel they helped, side effects, etc?

Thanks!
Diagnosed with MC on 1/8/2008 after 7 months of flare. 2nd colonoscopy and new diagnosis of UC on 3/11/2008.

Good question, Erin I am using Florastor and VSL#3 and seem to be doing OK....mainly I am trying to rebuild the good flora that the vanco killed along with the c-diff ..... :???:

I have read about Actimel in the book, Bacteria for breakfast, but I have been unable to find it around here....anyone here in US found it locally and what stores? Maybe I am just missing it? Maybe I'll go to their web site.....

Sunny,

I believe it's called DanActive in the U. S.

I hadn't been taking a probiotic since last summer because it's so hard to find one w/o my intolerances. For the past month, I've been taking the Ultimate '10' Probiotic from The Vitamin Shoppe (http://www.thevitaminshoppe.com) that claims to have no "yeast, corn, wheat, salt, soy, dairy, citrus, fish, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors added." It seems to be working well for me with no side effects and it's not very expensive. I'd like to think that it's helping bring Norman around more frequently.
