Has anyone had a tetanus shot after you got MC?

Hi everyone. I'm overdue for my tetanus booster. I'm reluctant, though, as things have been going so well with my LC and I don't want to do anything that might cause a relapse.

Carrie,

I did, but it was because I didn't check my records and got one only 5 years after the one before. I would think you are safe if it has been at least 10 years. I hyperreacted, with hives and horrible itching that lasted for a week. I guess that's because we have hyperreactive immune systems. We are very good at making antibodies, it seems. Let us know how you do.

Love,

Polly

I got one last summer - I was WAYYYY overdue (last had one in 1987 after a special ed summer school job involved a scratch attack by a raging child....). I had no problems whatsoever except for the soreness at the site for a couple of days....I would think if you were to have some sort of reaction it would be more like Polly's than D-related....

Do it - tetanus is scary/nasty. You'll be fine

Not me, its been awhile, since I moved away from Timmins, Ontario and my doctor there. She was so great. She had the best way of keeping on top of what her patients needed, and she would tell me when I was due. But since you have brought it up, I do have my immunization cards, again from her, I will have to check. I will be looking for how you did with getting yours.

:bigbighug: (I love this one)

But a gentle one, as I have fibro but still love hugs, I can only handle gentle ones. But according to Polly the ones I give are not gentle, lol, guess when I was so excited to meet everyone last year I over did it when I gave them. But gentle hugs is good too!
