Here's that reference that I mentioned in the chat. I couldn't read the article, since it's not available on the net, but it is titled Loss of Taste and Smell Due to Propylthiouracil Therapy, and it was published in the New York State Journal of Medicine, on May 15, 1953. That's an old article, but apparently no one has done any research on it since then.
