off topic - Pippi Longstocking question for Peggy
Hi Peggy. My 5 year-old granddaughter and her older brother are coming to visit me next month. They live near Toronoto and it's a big deal to visit grandma because we don't often get to see each other. Do you think my granddaughter is old enough for the Pippi Longstocking books? I'd never heard of them until you, Peggy! The review at Amazon said they were for ages 9--12.
Love,
Carrie

Not Peg, but I think the story is fun and depending on your granddaughter's attention span, they'd be great to read together. Just make sure when you sit down to read again, you talk about what was going on in the story so she (or you...I know how it is) doesn't forget what was happening. Then when she is older and can read then to herself, she'll have a nice memory of them and will (hopefully) enjoy reading them for herself.

I'm not Pegster either. I think Pippi is a great idea for your 5 year old granddaugher. I can't quite remember my daughters age when we read them. It was close to 5 maybe a smidgen older. She loved them!! When Pippi did funny, wacky things Morgan would laugh and laugh. Plus the joy of reading together. Nothing like that and what a memory for both of you!
I say go for it! Enjoy your time with those grandkids!
Hugs,
Lori

Pippi has such wonderful adventures I'm sure they can be shared with younger than 9. If she's willing to sit on your lap while you read them I'm sure she'll be enthralled by the tales.
