This is my e-mail to Speedy-Q's Mr. Wynn

Post by jodibelle352 »

Hello Mr. Wynn:

My name is Jodi Everts and I am the patron who was denied access of your restroom. Please understand, that even with your responce to my friend Joan from my illness support group I find some of your words leave me sceptical.

I grew up in Gilford, went to school and graduated from Reese so I've been a patron of Speedy-Q for many many years.

The incident took place on May 2nd sometime between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. as my husband and I had taken our son to work and were going through Reese on M-81 going to Caro because it was the day he receives his Social Security check.

Just before we got to Reese when we were by Block Road on M-81 I was experiencing severe abdominal pain which is my warning that I needed a restroom fast! Because of living in Reese for years I was aware of your stores "No Public Restroom Policy" but as I told my husband at that time;"If Joan is working I know she'll let me use the restroom." Joan however, was not working that day. The 2 employees on duty that day I was unfamiliar with and didn't know either of them personally as we have lived away from the area for almost 5 years now. There were several customers in the store at the time I went in and I asked the clerk at the register farthest from the door if I could PLEASE use the restroom. Her reply was "We have NO public restroom". Without trying to draw attention to my ergency around the other customers I once again asked the clerk "Could I please use your restroom as this is an emergency." I was then told, Point Blank and very Directly that "We make NO EXCEPTIONS!" The clerk then turned her back on me and started looking through some invoices dismissing my request.

Mr. Wyn, you have put thousands of dollar over the past few years into new gas pumps and placing awnings over the outside but you couldn't devise some access to a Uni-Sex restroom for customer usage?

You have absolutely NO IDEA how humiliated I was when before we even got out of town I had messed myself. Yes, Mr. Wynn this desease I have leaves a person with little to know dignity once it rears it's nasty head. I have no warning hours in advance that this may happen, it occurs when it feels like it. I have been a patron of your store for years and have spent hundreds of dollars purchasing your gas and buying other purchases from your store. All I asked for was the use of your restroom and your reply was for security reasons you allow no access to the employee restroom.

Reese is a very small community Mr. Wynn and since the closing of Nick's Market finding access to a Public Restroom in a hurry is very hard. I would think with all the changes you have made to the establishment in Reese you would have taken into consideration that maybe it might even promote more business by adding a Public Restroom.

There is NO EXCUSE for the behavior of your clerk turning her back on me that day except that she may have been embaraced for having to use the "NO EXCEPTION" policy when she probably could tell I was in desperate need. I maybe wrong as I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt but I can tell you the experience left me humiliated beyond anything I've ever experienced.

Sincerly,

Jodi Everts

Great, Jodi. I thought I'd seen June not May as the date previously, but I may not remember correctly.

If there were two clerks in the store, I think that makes it worse. One could have been a lookout in the back room to make sure you didn't do anything but go to the restroom.

Let us know his response, PLEASE.

Hi Joan:
You didn't make a mistake I did. I thought it was June3rd when David got his Social Security Check but I wanted to make sure I had the right date so I checked my calendar and realized that June 3rd we had our Grand-daughter Bailey with us on that day and she wasn't with us at the time of the incident with Speedy-Q so both David and I new that we had mixed up our dates. Sorry about the confusion. Hopefully, Mr. Wynn will reply. Tex asked us to keep an open mind and not to judge everyone because of the error of a couple employee's. Both David and I totally agree with Tex and his oppinions are very important to us. There is, however, a part of me that doesn't agree that all his employee's have been told to make exceptions to the "No Public Restroom" policy. The clerk who waited on me that afternoon with her demeaner and attitude made NO EXCEPTIONS
to the store policy for me. I haven't been to Speedy-Q since and it will be a long time before I do. Right now the whole situation has made me very sour about patronizing that business.
Love and God Bless:
Jodi
