It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Shirley! Will dig around later and find the link to repost.
I just recently noticed that I have a skin rash on each of my elbows. I rarely look at my elbows so I don't know how long I have had it but based on what I've heard here I'm betting on Dermatitis Herpetiformis. Curious though, why it would manifest now after being GF for so long?
Guess I'll have to pay my primary doc $$$ this week for her to confirm it and say- Yep Joanna, it's DH!
Love,
Joanna

Joanna,
Well, it appears to be a lost cause. I found the article, but viewing it requires a subscription, now. (Apparently they have decided to try to make a profit on this information, rather than to give it away).

Sorry. Actually, what you have may not be DH. You shouldn't be having any symptoms of DH, unless you're actually ingesting gluten.

Wayne

Would a minute amount of inadvertent gluten consumed by cross-contamination be enough to cause a DH rash? If so, that could be a possiblity in my case.
I haven't had it checked out yet but it seems like a textbook explanation of a DH elbow rash and since I have never had any rash or skins problems like some folks it surprised me. I'll have to read up on other things that might be causing it and let you know what I find out.

Hi Joanna,
Good question. I have no idea what the correct answer might be, but I suppose it certainly might be possible. Immune systems seem to do weird things, as they change over the years.
