Mr. Louie tells me I am hearing BIRDS at night--which I dont think birds do this cackeling noise--unless they from another country--and I dont think Birds are out @ night singing???

Sooooooo---Maggie----what is this that I am hearing??? cus it totally drives me nutz at night!!

Morning Barbara,

Love your description from another country. There are a few birds that can really be noisy at night and the main one is the Northern Mockingbird which I am sure you have. They can do a huge variety of sounds and really can mimic the locust too. Just might be them or some starlings will sound off at night.

Hope this helps.

Love, Maggie

Could it be katydids? I am sitting here now (in Ohio) listening to them. They have a 2-syllable or three-syllable sound. On this page is a recording of their sound. Actually the ones I'm listening to have a slightly lower pitched sound than on the recording. Could it be them?
